I know it was originally on about 10 years ago but I'm watching it now for the first time as I like historical drama and BBC are repeating it. Anyone else watching? Great actors but shockingly bad script and storylines. How it made 3 series I do not know...... anyone else?

I'm enjoying it. It's my lunchtime escape while I work from home. It feels a bit rushed in some bits but others drag on for ever. Agree that the actors are brilliant.

I never saw it first time around and am watching series 1 on catchup. Enjoying it so far.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 18/09/2020 23:26

I had no idea it was on again! Hurrah! Watched it when DS2 was a baby.

Ohfrigginghellers · 21/09/2020 14:17

What happened to the Vicar! I liked the first one.

icelolly99 · 21/09/2020 14:53

Who knows?! I eye roll too many times whilst watching this. The historical inaccuracies, the jumping storylines, the lead characters who randomly disappear without explanations....Bea never mentions her sister...

I’m starting this again, script is worse than I remember but I’m enjoying.

icelolly99 · 29/09/2020 17:12

Was last Friday the last ever one?....

Yeah I believe so.

Ohfrigginghellers · 30/09/2020 14:09

What happened to Bee though? She vanished from series 3 and there was no mention of her. I preferred series 1 and 2. Didn't like the storyline with Connie getting mixed up in dodgy stuff.

icelolly99 · 30/09/2020 15:45

Bea was mentioned as she sent a letter. She was living with her baby at her sisters house now whilst Billy was at war. It was the start of the 2nd series that annoyed me. Characters had disappeared without any explanation of where.

Ah I must have missed that.

Yes I love land girls and am watching it with my 10 year old daughter who also loves it. It’s nice to have a drama you can watch with kids. I didn’t realise it was filmed so long ago - explains why some really good current actors are in a BBC daytime show!

icelolly99 · 06/10/2020 07:01

Now Land Girls has finished I'm enjoying The Indian Doctor. Also good cast but also better scripts.

I suppose Land Girls would come and go, so that didn't bother me too much. The characters were very stereotyped though and the farmer was ridiculous. The accents were all over the place, you would expect the girls themselves to come from all over the country but the locals should have a similar accent. The farmer was Yorkshire and the nasty woman some sort of strangled mummerset. Also it was always summer, it would have been a much tougher job in the winter but you never saw that.

Having said that, I watched all three series mainly for the clothes and knitwear (I make my own and now intend to make some dungarees and more Fair Isle) but I would like another series to find out what happened to the dastardly doctor.

icelolly99 · 06/10/2020 09:24

Ooh yes the doctor. I did think it was weird he could get away with shooting a man in the back dead without repurcussions when he would have been more useful alive to the right people. It was nice to see Paul Ritter in this too; I found him quite attractive in this role!

It was nice to see Paul Ritter in this too; I found him quite attractive in this role! DH walked in, saw him, shouted 'shit on it' and walked out again.

@CaptainMyCaptain 😆 and now we have Mark Heap in The Indian Doctor........

Indian Doctor is interesting today. A case of Smallpox in the village - the pit closed, shops closed and everyone told to keep 6 feet apart. It could never happen Wink.

icelolly99 · 06/10/2020 14:50

Ooh, yes that would never happen 😆 I haven't watched today's yet but I'm guessing the small pox is from something connected to the mean vicar and not the mother in law from India.....

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/10/2020 14:54

It's to be continued tomorrow but the vicar is obviously up to no good
