Netflix recommendations for older teens?

Lipz · 17/09/2020 23:53

Can anyone please recommend either programs or movies for older teens on Netflix, preferably things that don't have constant sex scenes or blood and gore.

Things that are funny, easy watching, or a good story line.

Thank you

White collar is pretty good. It's been a while since I watched it but don't remember it being too violent

wafflewaffleyappetyyap · 18/09/2020 00:43

Also Scorpion if that's on Netflix

Collision · 18/09/2020 00:50

Outnumbered
Friday night dinner
IT crowd
Brooklyn 99

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 18/09/2020 00:51

Do you have prime or now tv? Parks & Rec, and 30 Rock are well worth it

GellerYeller · 18/09/2020 01:08

My teens love Umbrella Academy. As do DH and I too 😊 They're dysfunctional superheroes so there's some occasional gore. Plus one, Klaus, needs rehab although he's frankly the funniest thing ever. It's very stylishly shot with ckever humour and the soundtrack is superb.
They also watch a LOT of Friday Night Dinner and the Office US but that's not on Netflix.

Brilliant thanks all for those. So hard deciding when your faced with so many choices when you turn on Netflix. Great to get so many recommendations.

Locke and Key

Cobra Kai!

Not sure if these are all on Netflix since I'm not in England. They are all on my Netflix, at least.

The Good Place
Stranger Things
Modern Family
The Bletchley Circle (a bit odd, but nice)
Lucifer
Suits (maybe? I liked the first seasons)

If you're cool with murders, but not gore, I suggest he tries these with subtitles:

La Mante (French)
Bordertown (Finnish)
Borderliner (Norwegian, I think)

Writing this list I just realised how much the things I watch tend towards the gory stuff, or just dark in general. I hope the recommendations aren't too dark.

Xyzzzzz · 18/09/2020 03:16

The good place
Santa Clarita diet

MountainPeakGeek · 18/09/2020 04:02

"Santa Clarita diet" - After the OP said no to blood and gore?!? Grin

FunTimes2020 · 18/09/2020 14:45

Away. It has had mixed reviews but we enjoyed it.

LizzieMacQueen · 18/09/2020 15:07

I've only discovered Arrested Development. That might be a fun one, similar to Modern Family which is, IMO, by far the best thing for family watching.

If they fancy something a bit darker, Orphan is good, creepy-ish but not gory.

Lipz · 18/09/2020 17:15

These are fantastic, I put them all on their lists and I can hear them laughing. Makes a change, usually shouting, coming from the rooms.

They were all like Shock when they looked at the lists, don't think they expected me to find anything decent to watch. Well... I didn't lol all you did the hard work for me, but I'm taking credit here.

Thanks so much again

Schitt’s Creek. So so funny.

Just get past the 1st season.

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 18/09/2020 22:27

Cobra Kai

KoalasandRabbit · 18/09/2020 22:28

DD loved Below Deck, following people working on a posh yacht, just light entertainment, though only first 2 on there then after that its Amazon Prime and Hayu though is a free trial. I've got addicted to it too Blush

Timeandtune · 18/09/2020 22:28

If they don’t mind subtitles try The Rain on Netflix.

PuppyMonkey · 19/09/2020 22:28

I presume you've done Dark?

Jodri · 20/09/2020 08:42

Community (really funny, we loved community!)

Lipz · 20/09/2020 11:23

Great thanks for the further additions, I'll add them to their list.

I actually watched and loved below deck, watched it after selling sunset. Mine weren't into them so much.
