Did anybody else watch?

I loved the music and the outfits, really looking forward to next week.

I have to admit it isn't a bit of history I know that well, so I'm hoping to learn something from it too.

Potionqueen - Thanks!!!

I must have nodded off or been side tracked into think about something else as I have no memory of a scene showing that.

No wonder I get confused watching tv series if I can no remember whole junks like that.

Sorry I confused you. The massacre scene was based on true life. The junior officer was not shown to be executed in the drama. I was trying to explain why the men at the house were shown clemency whilst hospital staff were massacred.

@stumbledin so you didn’t miss anything, I’m just rubbish at explaining things -msorry.

No appreciate you saying that. But unfortunately shows the problem with the programme.

It was such a terrible event, not just for the British, but local Malay and Chinese population. So think it deserved a bit more respect in story telling, even if a few Brits were a bit stupid or unable to imagine they had made a complete mess of things.

Just watched the last episode but I felt like I had missed an episode....I hadn't. It ended a bit weirdly and not very satisfactorily. What happened to the lovely American soldier? We ended up knowing how things panned out for most of the main characters but not him.... did I miss something?

Potionqueen · 21/10/2020 20:35

@icelolly99 the American serviceman was shot dead on the front line.

icelolly99 · 21/10/2020 23:17

@Potionqueen I didnt see him after he took Joan in the rickshaw and dumped her at the docks for the departing boat....

I felt like I had missed a few bits at the end. I haven't read the book, but have read the Siege of Krishnapur. I may have to read the Singapore Grip, too.

I did enjoy the TV series, but felt it could have done with another episode, or maybe another 30 minutes on the last one.

I used to work with one of the actresses about 20 years ago. She was my manager. Me and my friend always have a giggle when she shows up on tv claiming to be 12 years younger than us Halloween Grin
