Question of Sport - it can’t be the end for Sue Barker!!

Really sad to hear the news that Sue Barker is leaving as are Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell. It doesn’t sound as if it was her decision. Why does the BBC feel it needs to change the format of this show? It was great as it was. One show that always delivered and everyone on it seemed to enjoy it. Another example of the current BBC approach of “if it’s not broken let’s fix it anyway “. A letter to the BBC is in order. Or maybe another example of the BBC phasing out inoffensive ladies of a certain age.

It feels really tired to me as a show

I like the show. It’s comfort tv, we rarely know the answers but whole family can watch it and laugh at the antics. Sue is a fantastic anchor, Matt is very quick and competitive and Tuffers is a one off. New guests every week keep it fresh. Yeah it’s simple stuff but my family enjoy it.

I expect it's money. The 'Top3' probably expected salaries to reflect their 'pull' & BBC decided they could do it cheaper with newbies. Sadly it happens. Hopefully it'll bite the BBC on the arse, because losing the 'Top3' is definitely the loss of an era & they'll be much missed!

They may get snapped up by a rival channel. I think Sue still has two more years of Wimbledon to go on her BBC contract, provided they don't decide to replace her in that job with someone younger and more 'diverse' . . .
