First 2 series on Netflix, series 3.

Anyone watching? it’s co produced by Will Smith and there are plenty of surprises and great cheesy moments, and plenty of raised eyebrows (drink driving 😳) and the final episode, no,just no but yes I will be watching season 3 next year. I loved the karate kid when I was younger.

On episode 8. Love it. Funny, nostalgic and addictive.

I’m really liking Jonny this time round, and no spoilers but there’s a lovely flashback with the old gang in season 2

Just started season 2 and love it, Johnny is great and Daniel I'm not to sure about, love all the clips of the films, music and characters pure nostalgia for us 80s kids!

My husband and I have just finished both series on Netflix, took us a few nights, we couldn't get enough of it. Absolutely love William Zabka, he has aged really well. I can't wait for season 3.

I’ve only finished season 1. Amazing so far. Ticks so many boxes. Drama, action, romance, comedy. It’s so familiar and comfortable to watch. I love it.

I started watching it and got to about episode 3 or 4 of season 1. Tbh it felt like I was watching power rangers without the Lycra it seemed to be aimed at the pre teen/primary school age group and I lost interest. My 11 year old loved it.

I'm not sure I'd have enjoyed it anywhere near as much if it wasn't for the nostalgia of the films, I loved the flashbacks, and the soundtrack, so many 80's memories.

Do you need to have seen all the karate kid films to watch it? I only remember the first one. I think the rest were pretty rubbish.

No, it focuses just on the first, although I think the second will be more relevant o season 3 😊

I think there was only one nod to the second film, and v vague references to the third but for now you only need to see the first one.

I'm the same age as Daniel and Johnny and watched the original film at the cinema when it came out.

Middle aged Johnny is gorgeous!

I think you need to watch the originals to get some of the humour though.

Aaahh we loved it too. I think some tv that's been released during the pandemic has been genius at getting the balance right to cheer us all up, and Cobra Kai has been so lovely to get all nostalgic to.

Agree Jonny is gorgeous. I loved the daydream montage they did with Miguel's mum and the Whitesnake music!

But also agree about the drink driving, WTF?

I enjoyed it too, I loved the last episode with Ali and a reconciliation.

Season 4 has been commissioned, terry silver coming back I’m sure.

Yep, we binged it on N Y Day, loved it. The Ali reunion was good and I'm glad it didn't end with any romantic interest on her part. I thought Sams panic attacks were portrayed realistically, I really felt for how frightened she was.

I didn't actually enjoy the last series as much as the previous ones, teen dd said the same.

I think it stretched any semblance of reality to the absolute limits ie having a spinal injury and suddenly recovering from it multiple serious assaults not being reported to the police, nearly killing someone but being let out of juvenile jail after helping out at a soup kitchen once, forgiving the punk kid who broke your arm....

I also wanted to scream every time Kreese was on the screen, his acting is diabolical and as if anyone would let him anywhere near children 😳

I did like Johnny and Danny becoming friends and my favourite character in this series was Danny's wife who really seemed the only sensible one among them!!

I LOVE IT ! Started it on Sunday, watched the entire series one in one evening!

DH watched it, I was hearing it in the background. Blimey I rolled my eyes so hard I sprained my brain! I know it's supposed to be escapism but it was complete tosh for all the reasons Girlie said.
