I bloody love him!

What he does is so clever. Saw one of his shows a few years ago and loved it.

He is strangely attractive too... Blush

I think he'd make a great sibling, he'd probably let you in on a few of his secrets and be a laugh to have around, he seems like a really nice guy.

I want to watch this specials thing as I'm sure there are loads of things he's done that i've forgotten. I most admire the things he's done around religious beliefs and religion, and also showing up fortune tells etc, because as well as being entertaining there is also a serious point he is making on them.

For pure entertaiment I liked the horse racing special, and the one with the man who flies a plane. I also remember the one about the girl he taught to escape from underwater, i'd love to know how he did that.

I liked the one where he taught the young woman to be a world-class violinist in a month or something.

I also like his work exposing frauds best.

I went up on stage on one of his shows, was up there for about 20 mins. Was very interesting and gave me the opportunity to work out how he did one of his “tricks” which if you were in the audience you wouldn’t have realised.

But then there’s loads of other stuff I have no idea how he did. My mind was blown. He’s great.

His book 'Happy' was the one thing that really helped me get a grip on my anxiety- I think he's bringing out a shorter more compact version soon. It's a very compassionate look at how we view things. He must be a really nice man.

NecklessMumster · 19/08/2020 21:27

I remember seeing him as a close up magician in a Bristol cafe years ago before he was famous. He stopped my friends watch, another friend shouted ' you've got a magnet under the table' , he got grumpy and stomped off saying 'you're like kids ' 😁

I bloody love him!

I bloody love him too! Yay - Derren!

feesh · 20/08/2020 07:35

I saw this and I NEED to know how he “cured” the woman’s bad eyesight!

Standrewsschool · 20/08/2020 11:56

Really enjoyed the 20 year catch up. Just finished watching the Acopolyse programme also. Surreal in today’s pandemnicdays..

Lottapianos · 21/08/2020 13:08

Hes one of my favourite people in the public eye. I've seen him on stage 4 or 5 times and been STUNNED every time. Hes a fabulous performer

'Happy' is quite a heavy read and I found it hard going in places but absolutely worth it. Highly recommended

'He is strangely attractive too... '

And YES to this!

noblegiraffe · 21/08/2020 13:24

Happy really is an excellent book.

I’ve loved Derren from the start, so talented and positive. He’s always dedicated to making people feel better or improving themselves.

peachgreen · 21/08/2020 14:04

A friend of mine was on his seance programme and she was absolutely convinced during the event. She said she remembered thinking "life is never going to be the same now that I know ghosts are real". He's great at what he does.

Lottapianos · 21/08/2020 14:06

'He’s always dedicated to making people feel better or improving themselves.'

So true. Hes a brilliant example of someone using their enormous skills and talents for good

HalloumiFries · 21/08/2020 14:17

I adore him.

Have seen him live three times - was in the audience when the woman's eyesight was cured ("Fuck me sideways!" Grin) . I'm also convinced that I not only saw him before he was famous, but was a participant in a card trick in a street magic show during the Edinburgh Festival in the late 90s. When he first started popping up on tv I realised immediately that this was the magician I'd met in Edinburgh (and he has spoken/written a lot about performing there before he made it big) but most of my friends think that I'm wrong - that there are so many street magicians there that the odds of it being him are very slim. I know it though!

I agree with others that he comes across as such a lovely person who wants to get the best out of others. He's such a positive force and yes, he is absolutely gorgeous!

Love his books as well as tv spots although I agree that Happy was a difficult read in parts, compared to the others.
