Just re watching Line of Duty, series1 with Lennie James as Inspector Gates. He is brilliant! Such an understated, convincing performance.
Why has he not starred in more dramas? I so hope he is given a major role in a new TV drama soon.

Have you watched Save Me? It's brilliant

Cheetahfajita · 12/08/2020 23:09

He's excellent. I watched a thing called comics years ago and have loved him ever since

NeedToKnow101 · 12/08/2020 23:22

I really fancied him in Line of Duty. His sexy mouth twitch. Was gutted that he wasn't in it more.

Anoisagusaris · 12/08/2020 23:27

He has major roles in Critical, Save Me and Save Me Too. And I think he was in the Walking Dead??

Pipandmum · 12/08/2020 23:31

He didnt just star in Save Me but created and wrote the series. He has been in Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. With writing and creating and acting I think he's pretty busy.

mrsmuddlepies · 13/08/2020 07:54

I will try and track down, Save Me. Thank you so much.
I just think he is so talented and I hope other people recognise his talents. His acting is understated but expresses such emotion. He deserves to be successful.

He was great in this wasn't he?

I think it's the best series.

Gates, Cottan & Morton-fabulous!

NeedToKnow101 · 13/08/2020 11:13

@diddl

He was great in this wasn't he?

I think it's the best series.

Gates, Cottan & Morton-fabulous!

I agree!! They should have kept him in.
Butterflyonmyshoulder · 13/08/2020 14:39

One of our best yet underrated actors. Think he is fab.

TimeTruthandHearts · 13/08/2020 14:44

He's great, I mentioned him on the recent 'best actors' thread.

diddl · 13/08/2020 15:37

I also thought that Neil Morrissey was good as Morton.

Collision · 13/08/2020 15:39

Ooh I’m rewatching too

It’s brilliant

ExileinGuyville · 13/08/2020 15:44

Lennie James is the guest on the Craig Parkinson (Dot Cottan) podcast The Two Shot Podcast today, always worth a listen but looking forward to this one in particular.

JemimaTab · 14/08/2020 00:10

I love Lennie James - he’s brilliant and anything with him in it is worth a watch, as far as I’m concerned.
I think he’s done a bit of work in the US - he was in the US version of Low Winter Sun for example. And you should definitely give Save Me a try if you’ve not seen it.

Bellagio40 · 14/08/2020 00:28

Completely agree. He is brilliant and the first series was the best.

Thegreymethod · 14/08/2020 00:41

He was in snatch too, I love him and couldn't believe it when I found out he was Morgan in the walking dead I didn't recognise him at all when I watched the first episode.

ageingdisgracefully · 14/08/2020 09:29

I'm not keen on him generally but his performance in Line of Duty is amazing. So convincing.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/08/2020 17:34

Yes I was watching thinking who are you As recognised him

Had to google

And yes walking dead

Save me. Save me two - which he wrote and stared in hopefully will be 3

midsomermurderess · 15/08/2020 18:38

He had a huge role in the Walking Dead, so much so he lives in LA, and people were amazed, when he gave a tv interview, to learn he is British. He is not remotely underrated.

midsomermurderess · 15/08/2020 18:40

When he took the role in Line of Duty he and the writers etc knew it was a one and done. He was already contracted to tv shows in the US.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/08/2020 19:11

Oh. So he didn’t in s2 +

midsomermurderess · 15/08/2020 19:41

No, only series 1, a one and done.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 16/08/2020 19:49

I can't stand him. He seems to play the same character whatever he's in.

That said I do love the first series of LOD, Dot and Morton are brilliant.

UnfinishedSymphon · 17/08/2020 12:05

He was in Cold Feet too, the first series

PrincessForADay · 01/09/2020 13:59

He's a great actor!
