Matchers really not making an effort: Married at first sight Australia

I know there is another thread regarding Married at first sight Australia, but I’m only on episode 2.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the team choosing the matches, don’t really seem to care about what the brides and grooms want?

On episode 1, there was the couple here the man explicitly said he did not want a bride to be taller than him and his bride did not want a man shorter than her! Plus his ex gf was wired af.

Now in episode 2, the main reason they chose a bride as because she would be flexible and fit in with his gym bunny lifestyle. I’m a bit shocked at that. Also, he has repeatedly said that he only wants a fantastic looking woman. He’s a twat.

Very car crash tv

It's the distance as well. One couple live an 8 hour plane journey from each other. I don't think they do a good job matching them.

@ExclamationPerfume, I’ve seen a clip of an episode where one of the guys call the ‘marchers’ out on what a poor job they did.

I’ve only just started it too so avoiding the other thread.

Does anyone know how to watch the other Australia seasons? I think there are 3 more after this one.

An 8 hour plane journey plus about another three by road.

No popping out for a Twix at 9.00pm if you fancy a bit of chocolate.

I'm surprised the matchmakers put their professional reputation on the line for the shoddy show, if they are indeed psychologists. I watched one YouTube clip where Simon was telling the interviewer they were put under pressure to do and say certain things. Annoyed with myself for watching it tbh!

Totally agree OP!

One weird thing (and I don't mean to be "heightist") but half the couples seemed to be tall women matched with short men. Usually a no-no for so many people. How could they get it so wrong, on so many fronts?

DaisyChainsForever · 29/07/2020 16:23

Couldn't agree more OP. I feel like The older couple (can't remember their names) were only matched because they're a similar age. They literally have nothing else in common. And the distance is insane for some of the other couples!

Starlight39 · 29/07/2020 16:32

I totally agree too. Sometimes what the matchers say about the match doesn't even make much sense or just seems a really small irrelevant part of a relationship. Or they say "I don't know if the attraction will be there..." or some other really massively important problem but then go ahead with the match anyway!

I also think they allow people in who have really specific requirements or other issues that aren't really compatible with the aim of the programme. Those people should be screened out straight away... unless they are looking for car crash TV rather than good matches Hmm.

I'm also watching the most recent US series and I think the matchers have done a better job there.

@Kiwiz I thought this was the most recent Aus series. I've watched another Australian series, on 4OD I think but it just had 3 or 4 couples rather than 10. I'm not sure if it's still available on 4OD.

Kiwiz · 30/07/2020 15:18

Thank you @Starlight39

This one is from 2017 and there are apparently 3 more after that so hopefully they’ll add them to 4od or put them on after this one.

Starlight39 · 30/07/2020 15:35

Ooh, that's eciting @Kiwiz. I've enjoyed this one so hopefully they'll put the others out!
