did anyone see?

absolutely brilliant show

Yes...but I was a bit perplexed that really it was still about the visitors rather than really looking att Britian through their eyes. Like they focussed on the visitors struggglling with knives and forks.

That poor woman - i bet she was cringing to see herself making conversation with them - 'do you eat pets'.

It was still a film about the visitirs, made by a british film crew rather than an islander controlled project, made and edited and presented by them - I thnk it would be much more revealing if the islanders had total control!

southeastastra · 28/09/2007 09:53

maybe they had trouble with the equipment. see what you mean though.

bobbi was a bit eager to please wasn't she?

i wonder if they'll ever get to meet prince philip

I will be glued to it next week!

I loved their outrage on behalf of the pigs.

southeastastra · 28/09/2007 21:26

me too, do you think they're saving the best until last. (upper class) will they eventually meet prince philip, i hope they do.

i'd quite like to live on tanna

It's excellent viewing!

Ripeberry · 29/09/2007 17:23

Is it repeated this weekend?

I was flicking between this and Who Do You Think You Are, one advantage of living on your own.

One made me stop and think about a lot of things and the other made me laugh, I hope they get to meet Prince Phillip as well.

I have checked on Digiguide and it doesn't seem to be repeated but you could try Channel 4's On Demand Service.

Ripeberry · 29/09/2007 20:21

Thanks for the info

Oh I saw this for the first time last week. Wonderful. Wish I'd seen the first part with the pigs.

Do you think they will meet Prince Philip? I hope they don't because it will shatter their dreams.

I thought the bit in the dog grooming place was hillarious.

louii · 11/10/2007 14:34

Thanks for reminder, watched this last week, was great, couldn't remember what night it was on.
I liked last week when they were rather perplexed by the men dressed as ladies in the gay bar.

southeastastra · 12/10/2007 08:17

ah they met the prince . though it was too cold for him to return to Tanna (lucky for them i say).

We could learn alot from them couldn't we.

i want to live there

I watched it for the first time last night after a colleague telling me about it. I was humbled by the attitude of the islanders and how they just gave of themselves at every oppertunity.

I wish I had seen the whole series. Even DH who was a bit sceptical at first enjoyed it.

Thought it was a very observant commetn at the end about how Britan (or was it England) needs to 'open thier hands'

Turquoise · 12/10/2007 08:59

Oh damn I missed last night, have loved this one. How did they feel about Prince Philip when they met him? Hope he treated them with some respect, not his usual racist attitude?
They were lovely, agree they were humbling. Loved their affront on the pigs behalf in the first one.

LowFat · 12/10/2007 09:02

The camera crew could'nt join them when they met the prince. But they were overjoyed!

It was lovely to see

southeastastra · 12/10/2007 09:28

they were happy that the prince told them he would return when it was warmer they seemed more than happy with that!

i loved the way they hugged the salesman in Asda after getting their suits.

OP posts:
LowFat · 12/10/2007 11:10

I did think I heard the salesman talk to them in thier own language or was I imagining that?

I though he looked just as pleased to have helped them.

LowFat · 12/10/2007 11:13

Also loved thier observation on the 'rat-race' in London. "Where is this lifestyle taking them?"
