Is The Vampire Diaries suitable for a 10 year old?

Thinking of birthday presents for partner’s 10 year old cousin. She loves the twilight book series and films. She is very mature for her age, I thought she may enjoy the vampire diaries too. I have never seen it myself or read the books, I know the age rating is 15 but I thought twilights was meant to be similar age rating too.

Definitely not, it’s incredibly gory, lots of blood, slashing, stabbing & serial killing! And sex. No swearing though!

No, not appropriate. It's far more adult compared to the Twilight Series.

I think the themes are a bit to grown up. One of the girls gets used by one of the vampires at the beginning as he mind controls her into sleeping with him. Possible a bit dark for a 10 year old. I’d leave it another couple of years.

There are lots of twilight copycats book sets.

No

Another vote for no I'm afraid.

No, lots of sex and violence. Twilight is a very pg vampire series, vampire diaries is completely different.

No. Absolutely not (and I’m not overly protective). Even for a very mature 12 year old, I’d be wary.

I agree with the consensus here. I definitely wouldn't encourage a 10 year old to watch The Vampire Diaries.

Twilight is a 12. Vampire Diaries is pretty grown up. I am quite lenient with TV for mine but I eould have said 13 minimum and only if they are ok with a bit if gore
