People Just Do Nothing is in a similar vein. It’s a mockumentary about a pirate radio station. Uncomfortable viewing in some respects (maybe I just found some of the characters a bit too familiar?!) but really funny.

I was just about to say People just do nothing. It’s just excellent. Also how about Fleabag and Afterlife? Funny but also heart wrenching and bitter sweet.

Not quite as good is a program I saw recently on BBC iplayer called Ladhood. Quite similar to This Country.

EmmaC78 · 05/07/2020 10:05

The Other One on iplayer is quite funny. Other This Country fans also seem to like The Detectorists although I wasn't keen.

Workin mums or the letdown. Phoenix nights

DH and I started watching What We Do in the Shadows after we finished This Country - it’s a mockumentary about vampires living in present day New York

The Young Offenders - on iPlayer for the series and Netflix for the film. The film predates the series but a lot of ideas from the first series are in the film.

AnyFucker · 06/07/2020 10:53

Detectorists

saturdaynighthayfever · 06/07/2020 16:22

Oh wow thank you, loads of great ideas to try.
Adding them all to my list, I think I may have seen Phoenix nights and wasn't to keen on it.
The Detectorists I remember I started watching but gave up on it maybe I need to go back and give it another go as it seems quite a popular one. Smile

Have you watched Nighty Night with Julia Davis? The humour is very dark but I really enjoyed it.

People just do nothing and what they do in the shadows both make me howl with laughter, creeeepppyyy paper anyone?

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 07/07/2020 20:22

Definitely Young Offenders. I came to This Country looking for something like YO when the last season ended. Love them both.

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 07/07/2020 20:23

What They Do in the Shadows is excellent. My whole life feels like I am wearing the cursed witch's hat.

MadisonAvenue · 07/07/2020 20:25

I’m a bit behind the times but I’ve just binge watched Two Doors Down and loved it.

She also did sally 4 Ever

I loved it. It's the same sort of humour as camping.
