Just watching episode 1 now.
Did anyone watch this?
It just seems wierd watching the dramatisation bits, like it's done really awkwardly

Me and DH have been watching it. It's very interesting but I have to agree regarding the reconstructions and acting with special reference to the nylon wigs!?

purpleme12 · 30/06/2020 22:45

Very dodgy, all the people in this

I just watched the first 2 episodes. I am in shock tbh! So much corruption and shady dealings. How will they ever convict anyone?!

purpleme12 · 01/07/2020 00:27

Well I'm not sure they will now

Well no. But when I started watching it I did not expect to end up at Leveson enquiry via David Mellor. Bloody hell.

It reminded me of those Netflix documentaries that go on forever and throw titbits of information on now and again to keep you hooked.

I doubt this will ever be solved now. There's too much in the public domain. I reckon the dodgy neighbour with the stepson (?) in the police force did it or was heavily involved but there's not enough evidence now.

ageingdisgracefully · 01/07/2020 08:09

Where's the podcast rachelran please?

purpleme12 · 01/07/2020 08:40

Yes I can't see how it can be solved now

The podcast is called Untold: the Daniel Morgan murder (available on Spotify etc) Much better than the TV series and explains everything. Although it’s not ‘solved’, by the end of the podcast, you’ll know who the culprits are

purpleme12 · 01/07/2020 09:03

Are they not the same as in the programme?

OP posts:
CupcakesK · 01/07/2020 09:52

There’s a lot more detail and where the tv show alludes to things, it’s more explicitly explained in the podcast

ageingdisgracefully · 01/07/2020 12:31

Cheers Cupcakes. Smile

MonsteraCheeseplant · 01/07/2020 12:32

Yes you must listen to the podcast called Untold: The Daniel Morgan Murder - it's MILES better than the tv show.

ageingdisgracefully · 01/07/2020 22:09

There's a book too. Smile.

Really cheap on Kindle.

bibs124 · 01/07/2020 22:12

I found this programme really hard to keep up with.. does it get any better? I gave up after the first ep

purpleme12 · 01/07/2020 22:16

It was a bit hard to keep up with to be fair

I felt there were huge chunks of information missing and thus was a shame. I didn't feel it was a documentary as such and felt dissatisfied by it.

I also think that there was too much gratuitous drama.

I think crime documentaries should be just that - crime documentaries with proper timelines and established facts. No conspiracies please! I'm old school, meSmile.

I'm reading the book now though and it's much more satisfying. I'm going to try the podcast too, when I have time.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 02/07/2020 08:31

tbh I thought the tv doc was a bit shit. Hard to follow and I knew the story already. I guess for time reasons they had to miss out a lot of information and it was interesting to get a more balanced perspective. For sure, go to the podcast (or book but I haven't read it so couldn't say).

JuniLoolaPalooza · 02/07/2020 23:31

I've watched them all now. I hope it's not too much of a spoiler to marvel at them leaving out thr Margaret Harrison stuff til the end! And the car phone. Puts quite a different complexion in the first episode once you know that stuff.
Might have a look for the book. The corruption stuff is just awful.

ageingdisgracefully · 03/07/2020 09:07

Juni the book is brilliant. I'm about 30% through.
