Looking for recommendations for my next tv drama. Prefer British crime type drama but open to new things.
Want something that’s going to suck me in.
I’ve watched and loved..
Line of duty
Life on Mars
Hidden
Unforgotten
The Nest

Broadchurch is being repeated if you missed that first time around.

Happy Valley
The Missing
Spooks

Hinterland. Gripping crime storylines but also beautiful and sad.

Ripper Street. Historical crime drama set in Whitechapel not long after the Jack the Ripper murders. Highly underrated IMO. Vivid, original, historically and linguistically rich, stupendous performances, especially by Matthew McFadyen as the lead cop.

Cardinal. Canadian, but excellent. Great acting and characters. Breathtaking wilderness settings and bleak winters.

I've also just finished cardinal.

Really enjoyed it

The Other Mother. French with subtitles and really good

IntermittentParps · 20/06/2020 17:02

Ooh, Auntie, I didn't know about that one. Just looked it up and it looks excellent!

Strike on bbc iplayer

2Rebecca · 20/06/2020 22:38

I'm watching the Strike series at the moment. I'd read the books but missed the series. V good

Samcro · 20/06/2020 22:41

Not british but criminal minds is brilliant.

Hensintheskirting · 20/06/2020 22:54

The Fall - I've watched it twice, it's great

IntermittentParps · 22/06/2020 10:01

Oh, I really like Strike. Wish I hadn't seen it so I could watch it fresh, IYSWIM! I read a while ago there was a new one on the way, but it's gone quiet; I wonder if covid has scuppered it Sad

Also, I don't know how I forgot this, but: Giri/Haji. Partly in Japanese but partly in English and set between Tokyo and London. Gritty but tender, tense, witty, thoughtful, surprising. One of the best things I've watched in YEARS. Another one I wish I hadn't seen it so I could have the pleasure of discovering it again!

2Rebecca · 22/06/2020 13:48

I knew Strike looked familiar then realised he is Athos from the musketeers

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 22/06/2020 13:50

Mystery Road on iplayer

bboxoff · 22/06/2020 13:57

Breaking bad and The Bridge (scandi version)

Bit different to those you've mentioned but I loved all of yours and the two I've listed are by far the best series I've ever watched.

IntermittentParps · 22/06/2020 14:01

2Rebecca, indeed!
