Did the writers and producers of The Crown have to get permission from the royal family before doing it? I am watching the latest series with Olivia Coleman and the Queen doesn't come across very well. Why would they agree to it?

I’m no help at all, but i wondered this. It’s mad isn’t it? And you’d have to watch if you were the queen, how could you not? I’d love to be a fly on the wall while that’s happening, that’s an episode of gogglebox i’d watch the shit out of

It is odd. So far they have shown she didn't want to be queen, wished she could raise and race horses instead, never cried and didn't very much for her children.
Whilst I appreciate she made the sacrifices for her country, it doesn't cast her in a good light!

well having seen how some of her dc turned out, who can blame her haha. I thought the stuff about Charles and school etc was trying to explain how cold dysfunctional childhoods beget cold dysfunctional parents. I love the stuff about her and Margaret though. and the stuff about Philip's mum just blew my mind, that was WILD

Maybe they turned out like that because she never mothered them though? It maybe explains why she is reluctant to pass the crown though. I would want me children and grandchildren to have as much of a life as they coule before taking that roll if I had had to step into it as young as she did.

exactly, and it's not even as if she had been heir presumptive from birth so had had her whole life to prepare. no wonder everyone hated nazi Dave and where's wallis.
