Springwatch - apart from Chris the other presenters are leaving me cold

I absolutely love Chris Packham's enthusiasm for nature, its so natural and he comes across very well. It's also nice when he has a good relationship with his co-presenters - pity that's not happened this year. I just don't warm to any of the others, they come across quite wooden and like their heart isn't really in it. I know its hard this year with the distance between them, but it was the same when they were all together.

Although not there this year, Michaela does OK doing her curious schoolgirl schtick to Chris's knowledgeable professor, but the one I really want to see is Martin Hughes-Games! So enthusiastic and warm. He is the best one and it was a terrible decision to remove him from springwatch.

I love watching springwatch, but I don’t like the way Gillian Burke presents. It’s like she’s talking to a bunch of 5 year olds.

This is the first time I've not really bothered with it. Gillian just doesn't work as a live presenter, she's a bit better on the pre-filmed bits but I've never quite managed to warm to her as a replacement for lovely Martin! I used to love Simon King on it, he was great.

But Young Megan was frigteningly good.

Move over, oldies.

I don't have an issue with any of them!
They're all ok to me.
It's a programme I enjoy watching.

I've never really watched it before but I watched one the other day and loved it! Chris is just a joy to watch

Caught it last night for the first time series.

I’ll be honest, wasn’t so keen on Chris in the beginning, probably because I loved the Bill Oddie / Kate Humble combo. However, now I feel he’s settled into the programme.

Loved the Welsh presenter last night (and his accent).

The Scottish fellow seemed to fumble his words.

Loved the super-mum stoat feature, and also how different birds fly.

Simon King was brill.

Did feel Chris Packham was shoe horning in his step daughter, bit of nepotism once again from the BBC which has riled me while watching last week.

Snugglepiggy · 08/06/2020 20:55

I read that his step daughter chose to lockdown with Chris rather than her mum ,as she is working as a nurse, which is rather nice that their relationship is so close. And it shows. She would be an excellent presenter in her own right. So as she has a zoology degree, is passionate about the natural world and is living on site I have no problem with her.
Agree though-I have struggled to enjoy Gillians presentations and I can't quite fathom why.Her delivery just doesn't flow and I still miss Martin and was very annoyed they booted him off.

Love Chris too, cannot stand Gillian, I watch on catch up so I can fast forward over her. Gordon B in Scotland is usually OK but last week he just seemed really nervous or not prepared. Can't understand getting rid of Martin H G because they wanted less middle aged white men then hiring iolo Williams? I know Martin eventually resigned but he was basically engineered out.

But have actually enjoyed this format more.
