Anyone watched Space Force on Netflix?

It's had pretty poor reviews in the press, but my 12 year old, 17 year old and I really enjoyed it. The first episode is kind of slow, but stick with it as it really picks up. John Malkovich is brilliant in it and very funny. Steve Carell plays a more buttoned up character than usual, but he's also very good. Good satire on being given crazy orders. I'd recommend it.

Yeah - read the very luke warm reviews (don't really think it's Armando Ianucci-lite, it hasn't the same biting and sharp style, though the 'outspoken congresswoman' is obvs AOC), but was pleasantly surprised. Had no trouble sitting through it and chuckled all the way through. I think, seeing where Lisa Kudrow is, that it will be a lot of flashback? I enjoyed it anyway and the case is so cool as you say. I love Ben Schwartz from Parks and Rec (his series with Richard from Silicon Valley on Netflix is clever).

I binge watched it because I was bored. Its ok/good it passed the time. Not amazing but definitely worth watching.

It's really ok. But that's my highest rating.

Boring. Very unsophisticated American humour. Wanted to like it but switched off after two episodes.

LittleLebowski · 08/06/2020 12:51

Yes, I have to say the second episode was dire. Don't think I can be bothered anymore.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 09/06/2020 17:24

I really enjoyed it and I'm not sure why because it was full of things that would ordinarily annoy me like an illogical plot and dodgy science. I think it's probably because the characters and the actors playing them were very charming and warm.

What do you think Lisa Kudrow's character did to get 40 years in prison? Obviously something bad like murder, but it's a comedy series and murder isn't very funny, so I think it's more likely to be treason or similar serious but not horrific crime She really didn't want to go to Colorado so I'm wondering if she burned the state flag or something.

I really enjoyed it! Binged it in about 2 days.

JoesExotic · 14/06/2020 11:45

I enjoyed it too, hope they do another series. I loved Space Chimp & Space Dog (RIP)

catlovingdoctor · 14/06/2020 11:46

Quite liked the first episode but thought the second was dire. Gave up after that.

DrinkReprehensibly · 14/06/2020 12:11

I enjoyed it although somehow I didn't find John Malkovich the best casting. For me, he killed quite a few jokes with his delivery of the lines. I haven't seen him in many things and I guess the things I've seen him in haven't been comedy. I just feel those same lines delivered by someone else might have been funnier but he's been good in other stuff so I don't hate the guy.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/06/2020 21:21

It took me forever to get the joke about the PR/social media guy. I thought they were calling him by his surname which sounded a bit unfortunate, Factoni or similar. Then I realised his first name was Tony, which was definitely odd sounding, Tony Factoni. I was about four episodes in when I realised that his surname is something entirely different and everyone calls him Fuck Tony because they hate him. Grin

We watched a bit but we didn't find it funny at all so gave up. I didn't get it.

AnneLovesGilbert · 14/06/2020 21:24

It was watchable but nothing special. Shame as I had very high hopes.

Dorobie · 06/07/2020 19:02

I really enjoyed it... I have a massive weird crush on John Malcovich though Blush
