Hmm. If you don't like it by now, I'd say give up. The first series was far better than the second or third, I reckon (I gave up after that). It really is stupendously violent, foul-mouthed and pornographic, so it depends on whether those are qualities you look for in a TV programme...

tutter · 21/09/2007 21:22

yes am very tempted to Give Up on it

Has Tony's mother come into it yet? She's the dramatic centre of the first series, and I did find that storyline quite gripping. If that's not doing it for you, I'd guess nothing else in it will.

box set ..drool..

its fast paced hard action good story lines even better dialogue well told great tv
whats not to like?

BomperlovesMoss · 21/09/2007 23:27

Best thing on TV ever!!!!! Sorry Tutter but it's great!!

toomanydaves · 21/09/2007 23:51

love it but am only on series 2 so not reading rest of thread lest there be spoilers.

jitterbug · 25/09/2007 11:57

I LOVE the Sopranos. Best thing on the box ever (along with Sex and the City, of course!) The mother is brilliant. Series 5 with Steve Buscemi is the best series. Enjoy! I'm currently watching the final series on E4. Will be very sad when it all ends in a few weeks time.

meowmix · 25/09/2007 12:05

I love it but didn't get into it until halfway through the first series, 2nd is iffy in patches but the third was great.

Cappuccino · 25/09/2007 12:07

oh we have decided that this is something dh gets and I don't

there are bits of it that are good

but then there are a whole load of bits I just don't understand and if you stop concentrating in one episode in series 2 then by series 4 you are completely confused

and then it is v violent

so I don't watch it (and neither does dh, not because he wants to miss it but because it is on late and I am the only one who ever remembers to tape anything round here )

scampadoodle · 25/09/2007 13:26

DH loves the Sopranos, and the West Wing. I can't stand either. I can sort of see why The Sopranos is rated, but I find WW unbearably smug & 'aren't we clever?'.
But then I have truly uncool TV taste - I love Holby City & Grey's Anatomy & 70s stuff like Poldark!
I'm enjoying Heroes though.

Tutter · 25/09/2007 13:28

am still trying to stick with it

but think dh can tell i'm faking it

ahundredtimes · 25/09/2007 14:12

The Wire?

We watched the first four or five episodes. I watched it in a bit of a trance, dh said 'this is crap, let's not watch anymore' and I thought, 'is it?'

I can get quite lost in American tv. He was right though, not as good as it should be.

I kept thinking it might develop into 24, but it never did.

No, not seen end of Sopranos.
