Teen mom question

Hi!!

I'm rewatching the teen mom og (bored!) and I'm onto season 4. Maci is living with Kyle and Ryan keeps threatening to take her to court for shared custody. It's been mentioned a few times that she wouldn't be allowed to live with Kyle if he did? I'm in the UK so know nothing of the law in America. Is it some form of legality that she must be married to live with her new partner and child ?

Originally yes but then they seem to be living very close to Ryan and he still says the court would stop them living together 🤔 'mimi' even says at one point that no court would allow it ? I feel like I've missed something 😂

I'm not sure what the legal issue would be x

Maybe it was just their wishful thinking! But no idea really. I love watching the old ones.

They may have lived in another state, so may have needed his permission to take Bentley across state lines.
I know it's illegal to take a minor across state lines..

Odd isn't it how you rewatch it and have such a different view point to when you were younger ! I've found now I have a family of my own and I'm more mature (somewhat!) my opinion has completely changed of some of the cast/ situations.
