Yeah I just finished rewatching it. Loves it all over again! Watching all the seasons back to back danys decline into madness was always on the cards but I really feel the last series needed to be longer to fully get that across. Best tv show ever made imo which is such a sweeping statement but the characters and production are wonderful. Tyrion and Cersei are outstanding. Enjoy!!!

Yep me too. Not sure if it’s a form of torture, knowing what the final season is like.... the earlier seasons are so good, but you’re right; watching it, knowing the ending, you pick up on where Dany is showing the signs she will not be a good ultimate queen.....

As you can tell from my user name, I am another GoT lover.

Also rewatching, just about to watch Battle of the Bastards.

Definitely the finest TV ever, the performances and production values are unparalleled.

Luckily, S8 hasn’t put me off rewatching and enjoying. I have been paying closer attention to Bran to see if I missed any pointers to THAT ending. Nope!

S8 could have been magnificent but they rushed it. Character arcs were squashed and I was disappointed in a lot of it. I had some live ‘watch along’ threads on here under another user name. On the positive side, there were some beautiful moments and the Battle of Winterfell was incredible ( once I’d turned up the brightness on my tv)

I’ve bought a couple of books about the art and the photography on the show and I’m really enjoying reliving it.

@Amber736 I like cersie and tyrion too, definitely 2 of the best characters. The last series definitely could of been stretched out to 2 seasons, I was too rushed.
@hollaholla yea you can definitely see where Dani becomes too power hungry and loses her roots. @starksforthewin I can't wait for the battle of the bastards, I think it was voted the best episode our of all the seasons.

I rewatched it a year with my brother as it was his first time. I'm always jealous of people who are watching it for the first time. I remember the exact moment I was hooked - Jamie pushes Bran out of the window; I remember shouting, "the pretty man pushed the boy out of window" in absolute shock. I knew there and then I would like this story.

I have now read the all thr books on audible. They have been great as the story really does get away from the show by the time they get to a feast for crows. So many characters that arent on the show giving me so many new stories within the known stories to follow. I recently re-read the last one and I found that I had missed so much the first time reading but like George r r martin said himself, these books are to be re-read.

And then you have the you tubers who post all kinds of videos on GoT. I love watching them. They got me through maternity leave especially at the beginning when the cluster feeding was epic and I thought I was going mad. The series gave something else to focus on.

Can you tell I'm a big fan? One of the best story telling I have ever encountered.

Starksforthewin · 12/05/2020 04:26

I haven’t tried the books yet, I wanted GRRM to finish the series before committing!
Listening to audiobooks sounds a good route, actually.

Nymeriastark1 · 18/05/2020 11:38

@notyetthere huge fan I can tell. I remember the first time I watched bran get pushed out the window, was shook 😂 I'm jealous of people watching it for the first time too. I do love it when they tell me how much they love a character and have no idea what awaits them lol. I watched 'battle of the bastards' last night forgot how bloody good it was.

How far along do the books go compared to the TV series?

@Nymeriastark1 with regards to book vs. Show, the last book dance with dragons;

Danny has just flown off on drogon from the fighting pits at mereen. The dothraki have just found her.

Meanwhile at mereen, war is well and truly on. Lots is happening here that the show didn't even scratch the surface. the Yunkai'i have formed a coalition with other cities (amoong them Qarth,Volantis,Tolos,Mantarys,NewGhisand Elyria) against her, rallied troops, destroyed Astapor and are marching to Meereen. Victarion is on his way to mereen to get Danny and a dragon. Marwin is also on his way to mereen to meet danny too. Tyrion has joined the 2nd sons outside mereen.

John snow has just been murdered as he warghed into ghost at wall after reading the pink letter and deciding to go fight the boltons.

Stannis and company are parked outside winterfell preparing to attack. They are very snowed in. Theon and pretend arya (Jayne poole) have just escaped winterfell and are in the stannis camp. Theons sister asher is a prisoner with Stannis

Meanwhile inside winterfell is Bolton's who have held winterfell for a while. It's the aftermath of Ramsey's wedding to the pretend arya. The manderleys are here too and are secretly plotting against the Bolton's to reinstate the starks.

Davis is on his way to skargos to bring back rickon stark on the request of the manderleys.

Cersei has just done the walk of shame awaiting trial.

Her uncle kevin is hand of king but varys has just killed him as he was doing a job too good. Varys is hoping they blame the tyrells. Varys is backing young aegon(aegon according to the fandom) who has arrived in Westeros and taken over storms stormsend. Not in the show.

The dornish plot - a long story that I will respond to another day. This isn't in the show.

Lady stoneheart with the brotherhood without banners is busy in the river lands killing the freys.

Jamie bannister has just gone off with brianne to meet lady stoneheart.

Lots of other plots and plans happening but I could write a book of where everyone is but let me see if I can find a link to a log of where everyone is
