FREDDIE STARR

I used to love watching Freddie Starr on the box but I've just finished his book and wow. It's pretty sleazy to say the least - cheating on his loved one with transsexuals and all sorts of stuff. wot an eye opener.

I've never thought he was very talented. Over rated, not funny & seriously dodgy mates (lots of You Tube clips of him with Gary Glitter way back when).

JKScot4 · 08/05/2020 02:55

He’s been regarded as dodgy for years 🙄

enragedpenfold · 08/05/2020 03:04

ATE MY HAMSTER

returnofthemollymawks · 08/05/2020 03:04

And this is a surprise because.....? Grin

Casino218 · 08/05/2020 03:05

You've just realised he's sleazy? Really?

Vinoisallmine · 08/05/2020 03:10

Weird guy

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 08/05/2020 03:25

You only had to take one look at him to know he was a massive sleaze. How did you miss this? Confused I think I last saw Freddie Starr on anything when I was a young teen and even then I could tell he was a wrong’un.

RedWillowWreckless · 08/05/2020 07:42

@enragedpenfold 😂😂😂

ElizabethMainwaring · 08/05/2020 07:46

I always thought that he came across as having serious mental health issues that he exacerbated with cocaine.
Also not a nice person at all. Sleazy is an understatement.

EricaNernie · 08/05/2020 07:47

why the CAPS?

EricaNernie · 08/05/2020 07:48

oh he died a year ago tomorrow, bleurgh

TheVanguardSix · 08/05/2020 07:57

In his case, you can judge a book by its cover.
There's a real underbelly to British pop culture, cultivated by the likes of his publicist Max Clifford. I had never heard of Freddie Starr (despite living here since the 90s!) until the 2000s! I know, it's weird that I didn't know who he was until then, but I don't think I missed out on much. I felt uncomfortable watching him. He was just soooo dated, so sleazy, such a lounge lizard.

EricaNernie · 08/05/2020 07:59

from wiki
Starr was found dead at his home in Mijas, on the Costa Del Sol, Spain, on 9 May 2019, aged 76. A post-mortem showed that he died from ischemic heart disease.[26]

By the time of his death, Starr had lost most of the money that he had made in his career on fighting legal actions in his final years, and he was reported as living in constrained financial circumstances in Spain in exile from creditors seeking financial recompense back in England. His family were without the funds needed to cover the costs of repatriating his body home for a funeral, until an undertaker's firm from the city of Sheffield charitably paid for the repatriation and funeral service. A funeral for Starr's body was held at Prescot Parish Church in Merseyside on 13 June 2019, attended by his family and friends with a small crowd of public mourners, with his body being buried in a family-owned grave in a cemetery at Huyton.[27]

EricaNernie · 08/05/2020 08:00

EricaNernie · 08/05/2020 08:00

Sarcelle · 08/05/2020 08:04

He was one of those people you looked at and though eww. Like Saville, Glitter. They give off something.

JackieFazaki · 08/05/2020 08:22

A total sleaze, groper of children.
And a good friend of Savile.
Good riddance to him.

EricaNernie · 08/05/2020 08:32

why are you telling us op?
is this some sort of advertising by stealth?

Piglet208 · 08/05/2020 08:36

@Mammyloveswine Brian Conley is very much still around in theatre. He was excellent in 9 to 5 in the West End last year.

ElizabethMainwaring · 08/05/2020 08:39

Brian Conley is a genuine talent. Very charismatic.

Mammyloveswine · 08/05/2020 09:17

@piglet and @elizabeth I just googled! He should come back on telly!

Arewehere · 08/05/2020 09:21

Mr Mc Gross 'Grossiest Grimmest Guy'

El Grotesque

Got it.

Izzabellasasperella · 09/05/2020 07:25

He was a pretty big star in his day and quite good looking when he was young.
I think as his career waned he grew bitter and angry. Sleazy is the right word for him. I think there was some domestic abuse with his wife too.
Was it him who threw maggots at a celebrity audience?
