When she spills the yogurt down her front in the book it apparently is much more embarrassing and messy.

In the book we only have Connell's internal musing on the gossip about it. It's not the spilling of the icecream that is the gossip, it's that Marianne (who is very self contained and not close to anyone at school) took her blouse off in the toilet to wash it, Connell thinks because its the closest her classmates get to knowing anything intimate about her.

I binge watched this last night, it's all a bit pfft (trying to be intellectuals etc) but addictive all the same for the first love/youth nostalgia. I relate very much to Connell, a girl version of him, being a wishy washy, feeling somewhat alienated even when surrounded by friends, saved by uni but then brought into a social class wilderness... maybe an imposter syndrome. Good friend also died during my first year at uni triggering depression.

Can I ask what you think Marianne and Connell would be like if they got together and were 40 years old now? And if they didn't?

We just finished it. Loved it, although not the last five minutes. Why couldn’t it stop when they were happy and together!!

I’m on episode 11. One to watch.

When they were in bed together in episode 11 and he was on top of her from behind, did she say will you hate or or will you rape me? I can’t make it out.

I thought it was something like you can hit me?

"Will you tell me I belong to you?" Followed by
"Will you hit me?"
