Loved Line of Duty, Bodyguard, Suits, Homeland, The Nest, Dirty John. I don’t like anything too brutal or creepy! Any recommendations?!

Happy Valley?

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 26/04/2020 12:07

I've just started watching The Shield on Sky, the whole box set from the start in on catch up really enjoying it so far. Its about a corrupt police unit in America, very fast paced like Line of Duty, it reminds me a bit of Sons of Anarchy.

The Wire is really good as well.

Happy Valley is ace.

Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes are both on Netflix at the moment.

Inforthelonghaul · 26/04/2020 12:17

We’re watching Bosch on Prime and it’s really good. Think there are about 6 seasons.

Dauphinois · 26/04/2020 15:11

We're watching old series of Our Girl on iplayer. The more recent series are better imho but they're all watchable.

Cynara · 26/04/2020 15:16

I second The Shield! I watched it when I was a student, absolutely loved it. I seem to remember it's written by the same people as Sons of Anarchy, that's probably why it reminds you of it, @MrsDoylesTeaBags. The characters are difficult to like to begin with, but once you start to see the nuances it draws you in. I'm off to try to find a box set, this has reminded me how good it is!

Unforgotten, happy valley

Corcra · 26/04/2020 16:29

Unforgotten is just brilliant.
I thought happy valley was very good big tough going.

Smillar2020 · 26/04/2020 16:36

Just looked up The Shield - sounds awesome! But I don’t have Sky box sets ☹️

Spooks!! On BBC1 iPlayer, it’s bloody excellent!!!

Bottomplasters · 26/04/2020 17:23

Happy valley is the best!!

HermioneWeasley · 26/04/2020 17:25

Spooks in brilliant

The Bridge (the danish/Swedish version) is one of the best things that’s ever been on TV

Deux · 26/04/2020 17:25

Unbelievable on Netflix.

RingtheBells · 26/04/2020 17:55

What have you got access to,

Smillar2020 · 26/04/2020 18:44

Got Netflix and Sky Entertainment package - box sets apparently not included! Have iPlayer etc too

Good shout on Spooks although I remember some people telling me they are still haunted by some of the episodes even 18 years on - a deep fat fryer rings a bell!

We are watching Spooks and Hustle from the start again.

Violetroselily · 26/04/2020 19:50

Unforgotten is on Netflix, all 3 series

DCI Banks on ITV hub

RingtheBells · 26/04/2020 20:06

The Stranger on Netflix was good
Marcella was on Netflix, not sure if it still is

Hels20 · 26/04/2020 20:53

Unforgotten is great - I think first 2 series are on Netflix - I had to buy series 3 and that was only 3 weeks ago.

Happy Valley is brilliant. Richard Norton is amazing. And I think Sarah Lancashire plays against type.

Am just working my way through Spooks - love that Nicola Walker is in it!

The Stranger on Netflix is very watchable if a bit far fetched.

RingtheBells · 26/04/2020 21:12

Last Tango in Halifax was good, I think it is on iPlayer.

longwayoff · 26/04/2020 21:18

Yes to all the above. I'm watching new ITV offering Van der Valk. It's pretty dire but I've started so I'll finish. Wouldn't do it twice though.

ChequerBoard · 26/04/2020 21:23

Bodies is available on iPlayer, written by Jed Mercurio same as Line of Duty but about a firm of Obstetricians /Gynaecologists. Really good but can be upsetting at times.

Jins · 26/04/2020 22:04

Safe on Netflix. Just binge watched it. No plot line left unfinished and an unexpected ending.

englishmummyinwales · 27/04/2020 07:47

Also Criminal UK on Netflix is very good. It’s purely set in a police interview room (and the room next door) so if you enjoy those long set pieces in LoD, you’d enjoy it
