Hopefully not before the end of this thread! Sad

Uncle. Not cousin.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 06/05/2020 23:27

It frustrated me that Alya didn’t tell the detective about the Claire’s law application and his history of DV with his ex.

eggandonion · 06/05/2020 23:51

Surely the detective would take statements in the police station, and wouldn't interview Geoff with others around. If Dr Ali was still there, he'd have sorted it.

CSIblonde · 07/05/2020 00:06

Chandler, escorts will forgo condoms if a client pays enough. I read Belle d'Jour by the science graduate who was a high class call girl & I watch too many Channel 4 documentaries (they're obsessed with sexworker docs) . I also watch way too many You Tube clips that psychoanalyse successful 'textbook' interrogation techniques , so I presume Yasmeen's interrogators will suss she's a typically 'shutdown' victim.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 07/05/2020 00:08

Oh that’s really sad, and worrying that so many will take that risk.

I naively assumed that escorts with an agency would have a strict condom policy.

Thesearmsofmine · 07/05/2020 01:02

I was so annoyed that he woke up and was fine right away, no grogginess or confusion! I’m pleased that it seems Eileen is putting 2 and 2 together.
Those spy cameras can be absolutely tiny and difficult to spot so I guess that is why Yasmeen didn’t find them and I think the police will find evidence on Geoff’s phone or laptop.

Why does nobody find it weird that Gary is so interested in the well-being of a teenage girl, particularly as her dad was his loan shark, beat him up badly and threatened his family? Why would he care? Is this going to be where he gets found out?

Glad to see Adam back tonight!

Neverending2020 · 07/05/2020 01:58

Frightening there is so much reliance on the camera being found.
What if there were no cameras? So little chance in real life of the truth coming out with coercive abuse.

Poetryinaction · 07/05/2020 06:57

Adam is suspicious of Gary.
I agree it is strange how the police aren't treating it as though Yasmeen is a victim. She mentioned a knife! And when Alya started talking about abuse they looked surprised!

Clawdy · 07/05/2020 08:17

I thought it was probably Yasmeen's phone being placed in the bag by the forensic team, as she was the suspect.

MinnieMe1 · 07/05/2020 08:19

So well written... until now.

Honeyroar · 07/05/2020 08:26

Surely Yasmeen’s phone will have all those messages from Geoff pressuring her to come home when she was going to Spain, and Geoff’s laptop would have all the escort stuff, and surely Alyia would be able to show the money being taken from the business? I think Peter doesn’t like or trust Geoff because he stopped Yasmeen going to AA with him.

WobblingMyWigglyBits · 07/05/2020 08:28

I think she was trying to clean the dirt off

hiyahen · 07/05/2020 08:46

Going back to the cameras... I think Yasmeen knows about the cameras. Or at least some of them anyway. Did Geoff not say he was installing a 'security system' to give them piece of mind after Alya and Ryan's acquaintances stole from them and that's what they were for? So if she discovered one whilst cleaning it would be explained away to her as part of that security system.

hiyahen · 07/05/2020 08:48

Also remember when Geoff filmed Yasmeen on her phone as he was belittling her in the kitchen ages ago?! I'm waiting on that coming to light too... I was hoping Alya would discover that when she was putting the Claire's Law police number in her phone.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 07/05/2020 08:49

The camera thing is terrifying. I remember many threads on MN about hidden cameras and I've just googled and found hundreds for under £50 you'd never spot if it was on a shelf amongst nick nacks.
Tissue boxes, photos frames, wall clocks and even cameras disguised as a screw in the wood.

Imagine seeing this clock on a shelf in someone's living room. You'd have no clue you were bing filmed. Terrifying really.

It is a horrible storyline, but it has made Corrie utterly compelling again - I gave up watching for quite a while and got hooked back in when I caught one of these episodes. I hope we get a satisfactory conclusion before lockdown interrupts everything.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 07/05/2020 11:45

monkey Shock terrifying. That’s clearly a clock for a bedside table! With night vision. Hmm what reason would you want a clock with night vision in a bedroom other than perving on someone being undressed or having sex? It’s hardly a baby monitor cam.

ajandjjmum · 07/05/2020 11:46

I hope it doesn't keep going on - like the Pat Phelan storyline.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend yep, and the tissue box ones are designed for in bathrooms. Like a hotel room en suite, tissue box on the side under the mirror, few people would give it a second thought I'd bet.

Oh that’s so terrifying! Sad

Thesearmsofmine · 07/05/2020 12:11

I saw a Stacey Dooley documentary about these hidden cameras and it was frightening how items you wouldn’t think twice about can be concealing a camera, even pens or tie pins etc.

They will have to re-think it hopefully, as the stories are being re-written so they can film under the social distancing rules.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 07/05/2020 12:50

Oh they’re rewriting to allow for covid? That’s quite exciting actually. That would be good to see them living through covid in Corrie land.

Roussette · 07/05/2020 13:24

But will they actually mention COVID or just surreptiously stand 6 feet apart all the time. I imagine the latter TBH ! Corrie does manage to avoid pressing issues of the time
