Radio Times listings no longer reliable

Is it just me, or has anybody else found that the TV and radio listings in the Radio Times are wrong a lot these days? We're happy to pay for quality and the RT has always been the gold standard when it comes to level of detail, especially if you're a fan of BBC radio and want anything more than just the programme titles.

I don't know if they have a lot of staff off sick or working from home because of CV, but, like most people, we've been consuming a lot more TV and radio than normal during lockdown. I get that programmes can change at short notice, because of CV, big news events or if somebody famous dies, but they've been slipping on the basics - listing normal daily programmes on Good Friday and Easter Monday, when these programmes never air on bank holidays.

We tuned in for One World: Together at Home, billed as 'an historic, global event', starting at 7:45pm according to RT. Missed the first 30 minutes. It might end up being rubbish, but it would have been nice to be able to judge for ourselves and see it all live along with the nation.

Just a rant, really, but it works out at slightly more than the cost of the TV licence again each month and it's a real shame if we now have to treat it as a general programme advisory guide knowing that you always have to check online to verify the actual schedules. Of course, it's still right most of the time, but how are you to know when it's going to be wrong? It seems that you can't rely on it any more.

We did used to subscribe, which was cheaper, but it kept turning up late (a couple of times not at all), so we kept having to try and track down an elusive copy at the shops once it was already a day or two into the week, hence we had to cancel the sub and pay the full price now. We've always had it for as long as I remember, but I'm getting very disappointed now (first world problem, I know, but this is Telly Addicts)!

I've not found that programmes are on at the wrong time but I find that on the radio times website listings it often says programmes are a repeat when they're not and vice versa. Which really annoys me. But that's happened before the lockdown

It’s because the listings are done way in advance but are having to be changed at short notice due to scheduling changes. Programmes have stopped being made (to a large extent) so Schedulers are having to re-jig the entire channels output.

I'm entertained by the length of your message on here. So much so that I am considering buying this rag so I can find out what you mean.

It sounds very frustrating op.

If you have a library card you can access some TV guide magazines online for free.
