watching it.

really puts a lot of stuff in perspective, doesn't it?

PodPast · 13/09/2007 21:56

it's making me very tearful

PodPast · 13/09/2007 22:00

shelby's mum is the nicest person.

PodPast · 13/09/2007 22:01

i mean generally, i'm not comparing her with other people in the programme

sparklygothkat · 13/09/2007 22:01

I think Selbie's mum is fab.

expatinscotland · 13/09/2007 22:03

'To all those people who think people like Shelby shouldn't be here, come spend a few hours with her . . . '

Amen!

emkana · 13/09/2007 22:45

The parents, esp. Shelbie's mum, are so inspirational.

I cried so much when they showed Hamish, I don't know what kind of tears, happiness mainly to see he's doing so well (gives me so much hope for ds). Just wonderful when they asked the little boy to describe Hamish, and the dwarf thing came way at the end!

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 13/09/2007 22:47

how is ds doing emkana? and do you have a diagnosis of sorts yet?

emkana · 13/09/2007 22:48

No diagnosis as yet, we're seeing a geneticist at the end of November.

He's doing v. well atm, coped brilliantly with the bronchoscopy last week, he's commando crawling now and will pull up on his knees to get into the toy box.

So it's all good!

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 13/09/2007 22:52

when do you get results of the bronch?

emkana · 13/09/2007 22:54

They had a chat with me there and then, to say there were more secretions than they would expect and also airways smaller on one side than on the other, but they said it was not very worrying, whatever that means.

Letter to follow, god knows when.

chonky · 13/09/2007 22:55

I loved it, but it also made me sob.

MummyPenguin · 14/09/2007 12:29

Shelbie's Mum is great, but the one who really won my heart is Zoe's Mum. Probably because she was so emotional - I just wanted to reach into the telly and give her a big hug. To think that she's coping with Zoe and her little Sister all on her own. Zoe is a gorgeous little girl, her Mum should be so proud of her wheelchair or not. She couldn't have done any more for her little daughter.

Emily also very cute, and funny too. They are all lovely children. Hamish is a whirlwind!! Just like my DS1 always on the go!

Really makes you thank your lucky stars this programme.

sparklygothkat · 14/09/2007 19:43

I could really relate to Zoe's mum, although DS doesn't have her condition, he has CP and we went through lots to stop him being in a wheelchair, but he has had one for 3 years now. He is due to have an major op. to lengthen his tenons, which we hope will give him more mobility.
