I've recently been watching some old tv-shows like Murder She Wrote and X-Files during the quarantine and I've noticed that most of the violence is either implied (hiding the violent act through cutaways and shadows) or just really tame. In comparison, now we have shows like The Boys, Hannibal and even Game of Thrones that don't care how bloody they get. I thought it might be a good idea to write an essay or something and was looking for insight into some potential reasons as to why these changes occurred or even give me some examples of 90's shows with comparable levels of graphic violence to today. I don't know what sub is best to post this in but I thought I would try here.
