Oo yay. I'll be watching that!

SapphosRock · 21/03/2020 07:35

Hooray! Possibly the best news I've had all year. Thanks for sharing that OP.

littlebirdieblue · 21/03/2020 07:38

I'm so excited about this!! Me and my sister read these books over and over as children, cant wait to watch it 😊

rosie561 · 21/03/2020 07:42

I'm so excited for this!

OtherVoicesOtherRooms · 21/03/2020 08:25

Thanks for this OP!!

jay55 · 21/03/2020 09:11

Brilliant, something that will be pure escapism

SomewhereNow · 21/03/2020 09:27

Excellent, thanks for sharing 😊

ICouldHaveDancedAllNight · 21/03/2020 09:32

I'm excited... and frightened.

I'm worried they're going to iron out all the ye-oldy-weirdness which made Malory Towers so charming. Like when they brought back The Magic Faraway Tree as a book and changed Fanny to Frannie. That kind of thing.
I can imagine getting far too invested and shouting "Alicia would NEVER have said that!" Or "they would have had ginger beer at a midnight feast, not lemonade!".
I was the same with the new Anne With an E series on Netflix. They made it too too... woke? It just became weird having Gilbert Blythe able to help a woman give birth in a shantytown.
Sorry, rambling off topic. That's what 8 days in quarrantine will do for you.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/03/2020 09:47

Can't wait! Here's .

ICouldHaveDancedAllNight · 21/03/2020 09:52

I take it back, it looks pretty good!
I always imagined Daryl with short hair though - she looks more how I'd image Sally (nitpick).

Papergirl1968 · 21/03/2020 10:00

Those dresses are a hideous colour!

ICouldHaveDancedAllNight · 21/03/2020 10:04

In my malory towers books, they wore amazing drop-waisted tunics which looked grey. I think they had a natty tie-belt in their house colours?

I guess my Malory Towers imagining has them all look a bit like sensible flappers from the 1920s.
I'm enjoying the bathing cap experience and the outdoor rock pool in the youtube video - they totally nailed that. Is it just me, or did that pool seem like the worst punishment ever - freezing cold sea water?

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/03/2020 16:37

A bit more about the cast and characters. No doubt the Daily Mail will sneer at the casting for being "too PC" or some such bollocks. But no Mam'zelle DuPont!!

WhatKatyDidNot · 21/03/2020 16:41

Who is playing the Mam'zelles? Anyone we know?

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/03/2020 16:52

@WhatKatyDidNot Check the link I posted a few minutes ago. Looks like it only features Mam'zelle Rougier who was, I think we can all agree, the lesser of the Mam'zelles!

Michelleoftheresistance · 21/03/2020 16:56

I would love for them to do a no holds barred, wholly anti woke, shoving people into the freezing cold pool for not being sufficiently tough and athletic, warts and all version -

however I have a nasty feeling it will be very sanitised, and Call The Midwifey, in school uniform. With Added Social Justice.

Michelleoftheresistance · 21/03/2020 16:59

(Chilblains and all, obvs, not warts.)

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/03/2020 18:53

It hardly looks "woke" Hmm

DryIce · 21/03/2020 19:40

I want to love it, but I don't think I'll be able to stop myself criticising it for not being how it was in my head!

I already hate the uniforms and none of the cast look right.

But I am open to conversion!
