Disney+ - How the Jiminy Fuck do I find it?!

Fromage · 18/03/2020 17:08

I can't find it on Prime. I can't find it on my TV (LG)

I don't want to watch it on my phone (not even tried to find it there)

Do I have to sign up and pay up, to learn to secret of how to access it?

Ironically, now I know how Marlin felt. Disney+ you are my nemosis.

It isn't available in the UK until 23rd or 24th of March I don't think?

Humina · 18/03/2020 17:17

I don't think the apps etc are available until the launch.

Fromage · 18/03/2020 17:17

I know - but why would I sign up for it if I can't find how to access it?

For example, if I want to sign up for Netflix, I can find it on my TV, and on Prime. It's even on my remote. So I can find it, and then sign up.

But I can't even find a Disney+ app and I don't know if it will be available via my tv or prime. I can find out how to sign up and give them my money, that's the easy bit. But where and how do I watch it?

Sorry Humina, x posts.

So I have to give them cash, then on 24th March, bibbitty bobbity boo, the apps will appear. Somewhere. But it's a secret. So I don't know if it will be available via my telly.

Oh I see, sorry misunderstood you. My DS says it will be available on our Sky Q box as an app like Netflix is, if that's any help?

Fromage · 18/03/2020 17:20

I have the following devices in my home which are attached by yogurt pots and string to the internet:

hoover
dryer
washing machine
boiler

Maybe I can watch it on one of them. Grin

Thanks Cupasoup76 - I don't have Sky.

I have freeview and white goods only.

It's called Disney Life at the moment. However, I can only get it on one of our two TV's, it isn't available on our Roku player so I guess it isn't compatible with all streaming devices.

user1333796 · 18/03/2020 17:25

What do you mean you can find Netflix on Prime? Do you mean via Fire Stick?

@user1333796 I mean, if I go to Amazon Prime on my tv, via the button on my remote, I can access Netflix from there. I can also access Netflix from a button on the remote. You can get Amazon Prime via an app, or via a firestick. My tv has it as a built-in (so to speak) app. No firestick involved.

@CornishPorsche and @Noeuf - thank you! I still can't find any info via my tv though, which I find odd. I would have thought there'd be an app or something that you could click on (or not click on, just at least see the fucker) that said 'coming soon' or something. So whilst Disney say it will be available, when?

And yes, the plan is to sign up before the price goes up.

23 March. I have an email to confirm my membership and I assume apps etc will arrive when that date happens

woodwaj · 24/03/2020 07:33

Just bumping this thread! I cant find it on my sky Q box. Apparently you have to access it differently if you pre paid via disney and didnt sign up through sky...but its still a mystery how?!

HorribleBosseses · 24/03/2020 14:29

Anyone signed in yet? All I got was the confirmation email, do I just try to sign in with my email?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 24/03/2020 14:42

DS got an email this morning to say his subscription was live, and he has set it up on both of our iPads. Watching it now.

mollymoggs · 24/03/2020 14:49

You need an amazon fire stick. Only certain tv's support the app. Otherwise you can get it on an iPad and use a chrome cast to stream it. We've found the firestick the easiest option for Disney life and I assume Disney plus is the same. I know it's available on there as I looked it up earlier.

Bloomburger · 24/03/2020 15:33

I went into main menu then apps and it was there on sky q, main box though.

Fromage · 29/03/2020 11:01

Update: the Disney+ app appeared on the 24th of March, hurrah! Which I'm sure you all know. Blush

No firestick needed - haven't even looked to see if it's accessible via Prime on, for example, a phone/run away ipad etc.

I have, however, put the app on 2 phones, 2 tvs, and a smart trouser press. OK not the trouser press, but I probably could install it on all my white goods that feel the need to chat online with all the other tumble dryers and boilers and food mixers when my back is turned.

I wasn't going to put it on my phone but now at least I can work my way through The Avengers franchise whilst I'm queueing at Tesco. To get in.

Thank you for all your help, mners, and I leave you with this public service announcement:

to ease your hangover, watch calming documentaries about sea life on, for example, Disney+. This is going to save you money in Alka Seltzer and Berocca, the kids can watch too (which they couldn't when you were easing your hangovers with Killing Eve) and failing that, Finding Nemo (found!) (ooh, soz, spoiler) will do a similar job.
