Who is the best / worst puppet / puppeteering?

Was watching Sportacus this week and noticed that the Pixel puppetry is utterly rubbish. It doesn't move its eyes and just looks bl**dy scary with its mouth hanging open.
Compare it with Tutter from the Blue House, a mere sock puppet, but I reckon he's the most expressive puppet on tv! He cracks me up. Just shows the difference a good puppeteer makes and that Hensons are the best.

Totally agree. You can spot a Henson workshop creation a mile off.

Quite like the Dolmio puppets though!

Bad puppetry abounds in The Story Makers (Barnacle Rock being just one of the worst offenders)

Bouquetsofdynomite · 07/09/2007 10:40

LOL, the stories in Storymakers are so half-arsed aswell! Blue Cow is the worst "I'd like to go somewhere where things are broken please."
All filler, no killer.

Are you trying to tell me the Poon family on storymakers are....[gulp] PUPPETS?

Nooooooooooo it can't be so!

southeastastra · 07/09/2007 13:49

sooty is the best puppet

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 07/09/2007 18:02

Are you kidding me? I always found him very sinister after all at least Sweep talks Sooty is like a silent assasin!

Talking of sinister Basil Brush anyone?

southeastastra · 07/09/2007 18:38

sinister! never

Bouquetsofdynomite · 08/09/2007 21:31

Always quite fancied Basil Brush. Sweep too had more sex appeal than Sooty.

OP posts:
southeastastra · 08/09/2007 21:31

sweep was an enigma

Bouquetsofdynomite · 08/09/2007 21:44

A passionate enigma, he used to really go off one one somtimes. Sooty used to just stand there and take it, wiping his eyes occasionally.

themoon66 · 08/09/2007 21:46

Sooty used to send me screaming from the room as a child (according to my mother).

southeastastra · 08/09/2007 21:52

i loved sooty and incy and wincy

look at sooty here, being all loving

Skribble · 08/09/2007 21:54

What about Puppetry of the Penis, can we enter that into the debate?

themoon66 · 08/09/2007 21:57

Now yer talking Skribble!

southeastastra · 08/09/2007 21:57

ha yes any puppetry is good in my book

SnollyGoster · 08/09/2007 22:00

Do the Tweenies count?
If so, that friggin' Izzles needs putting down.

southeastastra · 08/09/2007 22:01

yes i'll second the tweenies as the worst thing ever

Bouquetsofdynomite · 08/09/2007 22:02

Hmm, does Izzles count as a puppet? Was Bungle a puppet? Or just a pantomime horse?

themoon66 · 08/09/2007 22:17

Actually have to agree with you Donnie .

donnie · 08/09/2007 22:19

yes and it wasn't even that hard now was it???? lamb chop rocks. Keith Harris and Orville can eff off.

Bouquetsofdynomite · 08/09/2007 22:28

Have only seen lambchop on 'ex-soapstars wacth clips and pretend to reminisce about old tv shows' shows (for once, I'm too young! yay). That Shari Lewis was one crazy lady.
