A new series (series 11)of this has just started on BBC at 2.15 Mon-Fri. Five good quality individual 45 minute dramas with great acting from people like Mark Addy.

Love these! We've watched the first two, both really enjoyable.

I liked today's one about the ex rugby star! Mark Addy is a good actor and very natural.
The one with the blind lady yesterday ( little mo from EE gone by) was also good.
Jimmy is a fantastic writer, I love his work.

Oh I'm so glad there is a thread about this little series. I was faffing about on iPlayer and came across it last night. Sad to see only three posts though!

I think they're great. Little one act stories and they've attracted good quality actors too. And it's nice to see low budget playlists where the only concerns are good writing and credible acting.

I also liked the one about the blind woman and how suddenly being able to see was a double-edged sword, not the immediate nirvana she was expecting.

The one today was nice. Very well acted all round. Reminds me the old ' play for today' that used to be on in the 70s!

CatMuffin · 06/03/2020 17:54

I like these. I wish you could watch all the previous series as i think I've missed some

WhatKatyDidNot · 06/03/2020 18:15

It's series 11. I'm gutted that I had no idea it existed.

Brilliant writer. Gets human character spot on. Should be on in the evening, better than most of the evening stuff. Will binge watch over the weekend

The80sweregreat · 06/03/2020 18:45

Cary, I'm a fan of his : Jimmy is a national treasure!
He really nails human nature and how we speak and think. These mini dramas are so well written.

Cary2012 · 06/03/2020 19:31

They are indeed 80s. Thought provoking, and the attention to detail is perfect.

The80sweregreat · 06/03/2020 19:41

Yes, people react to things so realistically unlike like they do in soaps for example!!

fussychica · 07/03/2020 08:56

Just to say the ones in this series aren't written by him so there are lots of great writers out there being facilitated by him.

I've only just discovered these too. They are lovely. I couldn't figure out what programme the blind lady had been in until right near the end, then it dawned on me, Little Mo. The first one with the swimmer/taxi driver was so sweet.
