Drunk drivers, so drunk, one fell asleep at a junction, another rattled his car round a lamppost and passed out.. none of them got fined more than £500 or banned for more than 3 years.

I saw the start but didn't see the last bit where it says what happened to them!
That bloke that fell asleep was nearly 6 times over the limit but because he didn't gice the 2 samples within in 3 mins they couldn't use it in court why couldn't they take a blood sample from him?

i saw bits. why was that man dressed as a woman?

charliecat · 06/09/2007 10:04

I dont know why the man was dressed as a woman but I thought they took him to the police station for entertainment value TBH, they could have dropped him off at home and im sure he wouldnt have wandered back.
I cant remember exactly what they people got, but its was daft, like £80 and £240 fine etc They could have killed whole groups of people they were so out of it they couldnt keep thier eyes open.

i agreed with the cop that said the limit should be zero. it's shocking what people think they can get away with

charliecat · 06/09/2007 10:12

I think there should be a zero limit too.
BUT then if youve been drinking the night before and had a weeny bit of alcohol in your system from the night before but are perfectly capable of driving etc then the zero limit would seem harsh wouldnt it?

yes but that's different isn't it

now you can have half a lager whatever and get behind the wheel straight away

My Dh's cousin was caught way over the limit in a car without insurance. He had his car impounded while the case came to court.

During this time he borrowed a mate's van and carried on driving (still no insurance and now with a temporarily suspended license)

He got away with a fine and points cos he whined that he needed to drive for his job (don't we all?)

Made me so feckin mad - he thinks it's cool that he beat the system

and he has young children!!!
