Its very funny - like a mirror sometimes worringly

I love ben and little Karen is funny too

Can you remember what he said to the turkish kid? I was trying to remember last night but couldnt!

Bewilderbeast · 05/09/2007 13:17

it's brilliant but the little boy makes me dread ds getting to that age

Joanie · 05/09/2007 13:50

changed my mind on this. Now like it and watch it all. Little girl is v accurate. Hugh Denis a bit more sympathetic now, but still not cracking a smile? Bizarre 3 really late nights in a row programming though

Wilbur · 05/09/2007 13:53

We love it, although there are times when I think the writers have been sitting in our kitchen...

heifer · 05/09/2007 13:56

love it - sky+ so I watched 3 in a row the other evening.

does make me rather pleased that I only have 1 child though - not sure I could deal with the issues!

fryalot · 05/09/2007 13:58

GYOJ: He said something about the boy being fat, and then went on to say something about most muslims not eating during ramadam whereas that boy ate snacks all through his lessons.

I think

cornsilk · 05/09/2007 13:59

I've seen a bit of a couple of episodes - liked it lot. But it's on at such a strange time, I keep missing it. Hope they'll repeat it as I'd like to watch it properly from the start.

MummyPenguin · 05/09/2007 18:46

Little Karen is definitely the star of the show. She's so comical, and I love the way she speaks. I love her quips like: (to Dad) "do you believe in God?" Dad: "well, everyone believes in something." Karen: in slightly exasperated tone: "yes I know that, but I want a clear answer - do you believe in God?"

I don't particularly like Ben I find him quite 'plug' and far too smug. I like the older boy Jake, he's sweet and I feel sorry for him because of the bullying. I can relate to him as DD has just started secondary school too. (Not being bullied thankfully!)

Sue should have told that Veronica to eff off long ago!

Looking forward to tonight's episode.

Getyourownjuice · 05/09/2007 19:17

Squonk - didnt he say ''you could do with Ramadan lasting a whole year''

Classic

moljam · 05/09/2007 20:29

It's really funny

DH and I were LOL at it on Monday night.

It is such a mirror on life at the moment.

hatjam · 06/09/2007 10:44

it's brilliant - hope it'll be shown earlier for the next series. there's GOT to be a next series!

RTKangaMummy · 06/09/2007 11:22

I think it is really deffo brill

I love Ben and Karen

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/09/2007 11:26

Maybe we should e-mail the BEEB asking for it to be on earlier...do they not realise that their target audience have to be up with the larks in the morning?

foxybrown · 06/09/2007 11:26

Can't stand it. Far too close to home!

literally, our park was on it the other night (weak claim to fame, I know!)

MrsWeasley · 06/09/2007 11:27

I wanted to watch this but missed it. I hope they repeat it

smugmumofboys · 06/09/2007 11:32

Love it. Bonkers time to be on though. I loved the scene in the farm park shop when Ben was asking for a toy - that was me and DS1! And the endless questions - DS1 is 5 and has just got to that stage so it really tickles me.

zippitippitoes · 06/09/2007 11:37

I must be in a parallel universe I think it is excruciatingly awful...I watched it last night and thought this is embarrassingly cringeworthy no wonder it is hidden at that time..death knell it's so awful and the acting is terrible..well non existently wooden and the kids are dreadful too

MummyPenguin · 06/09/2007 12:10

Apparently, a lot of the parts with the kids aren't scripted, to make it seem more natural, as the adults have a lot of what the kids say thown at them.

When I watched the first episode, I thought it was pretty naff, but it's really grown on me. Was that it then last night, the end of the series? No more struggling to stay awake for me then!! Next series must be longer!!

What's Aunty Angela been in?

RTKangaMummy · 06/09/2007 12:49

here is her IMDB she is MISS MONEYPENNY

HorseyWoman · 06/09/2007 15:10

Yes the kids don't have scripts and their lines are improvised. I, as a nanny, find it hillarious! I love Karen. We were told to watch out for when the kids missed their lines a bit and the adults burst out laughing.

Well on Tuesday, Ben was giving the definition of a Nazzi and called Adolph Hitler 'Addy Hitler', and the adults laughed and the dad said 'only to his mates'. Well that part was improvised because Ben was actually meant to say Adolph Hitler.

Hmmm. Anyway, I think the series is still on.

lissielou · 06/09/2007 15:13

he said that kemal could do with ramadam lasting all year.

i love it, watch it on replay tho coz of the time

HorseyWoman · 06/09/2007 15:14

Actually, yes, last night was the last one!

bundle · 06/09/2007 15:22

are they going to be repeated? i only saw one
