Posted before to no response but I enjoyed binge watching this on BBC IPlayer, and was a bit surprised there wasn't a thread here.

There is one I started it. I just think its very niche. I dont know anyone in rl who watched it. I love it but its very boho Californian not to everyones taste.

She was uber annoying

I love this show. I think the writing really nails the feelings of constant uncertainty, guilt and juggling of motherhood that I feel. I am not a Californian actress but can relate to so much of it. I think it’s a hidden gem (in the UK anyway; think it is more successful in the US) and have recommended it to loads of people. Few of them seem to like it though!

I know none of my people have liked it because it’s too talky and the kids are obnoxious it’s not really like that here. I think it’s the sun and the legal weed😃

Love it - especially Celia Imry

EachandEveryone · 24/02/2020 11:13

She’s wicked to her though!

rabbitwoman · 24/02/2020 17:33

Took me a while to understand that was the whole point - her children can be so vile and selfish and she obviously has a complicated relationship with her mum, but she still supports and looks after them all and holds her family together, sometimes out of duty, sometimes out of love.

Love it. The scene where she screamed 'no' in her pal's face for about three minutes when he made a pass at her is both the funniest thing ever, and brilliant advice....

TooStressyTooMessy · 24/02/2020 18:38

Yes rabbit, I think it’s genius! Plus I love that it shows that children are not always sweetness and light.

Thanks for replies, sorry for late response. Because I liked it, it didn't occur to me it might be a bit niche, but can see that now, thanks for the BoHo Californian reference EachandEveryone. I certainly had a few yikes and raised eyebrow moments re her daughters' precociousness (to put it nicely), lol but it also had heart and soul so won me over. There's going to be another series apparently, yay.

They are one series ahead in the States.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/02/2020 16:07

Thanks for the heads up - I'm going to watch it.
