Best Home Cook - I have Questions!

I've looked in vain for a thread that's not about Angela Hartnett's top and I can't find one....

I've been watching this and can't make head or tail of the format. The cooking is what you'd expect, but why do they all live together, in what is obviously a different building? Are they there the whole time? Why don't we see more of them interacting in the house? Are they separated from jobs and families? What is going on???

I've wondered about jobs too. Have they all quit their jobs? Used up all their annual leave? The living together but seems completely unnecessary and being separated from families. I find it a bit of an unfair format for those people who can't afford to just leave their jobs temporarily (but they all seem quite wealthy).

Maybe it’s like Bake Off where they film each weekend and go home during the week?

It makes no sense - if you're going to film them together, why not have video blogs or something.... anyway, I've enjoyed it, bonkers though it's been.

Yes, I reckon they filmed over weekends, like GBBO.
