I never thought Id say this. Ive been a fan from the beginning but this new season? Meh.

I really hated the Jewish thing with Susie last night. Susie suddenly liking the new gf because Larry said shes Jewish (might have been lying) and all of a sudden Susie is best friends with her. Susie has never been like that all the way through. She loves Cheryl who never converted. It really annoyed me 😃

And he was so Nasty about the gf losing weight. It just wasnt funny.

The scone last week. Surely nobody eats them try like that? Is it even a thing?

Anyway, Id love to know what others think. I dont know anyone else that watches it.

Am I the only one still watching?

I haven't seen last night's yet. I always think it's cringeworthy - that's the point, isn't it - and I always want to slap him, but I do love it.

HollowTalk · 19/02/2020 21:04

Just noticed Seinfeld is on Netflix...

EachandEveryone · 19/02/2020 21:09

No watch last nights its not just cringy it’s repetitive. And quite nasty.

It’s definitely gone downhill from its glory days. I think when Larry divorced Cheryl it started to turn, though it has been good to see her back in these ones. It’s always had a cruel streak in it, I don’t mind that so much, but it doesn’t feel fresh any more, it’s like The Simpsons churning out the same old same old. I think Larry should probably knock it on the head now. (It’s also getting creepy how much younger the women he and his friends date are, but I suppose that reflects the reality of men in Hollywood with money!)

EachandEveryone · 20/02/2020 20:20

Anyone else being watching it?

Agree that it went downhill after Cheryl left. And I hate how much time they give the Leon character. There's no way a rich, white guy would pal around with him so much.

There are loads of topics inspired by real life that LD could dig into:

  • how to deal with friends who are sex pests (Louis CK)
  • how to be mega rich and deal with golddiggers/users
  • what life is like after you've peaked
  • and similarly, trying to keep up with a comedy scene that's moved on
  • creating a new sitcom
  • starting a family later in life (like Jerry Seinfeld did)

I'm not saying go full drama - that's not who he is. But he could absolutely skewer the above topics in his style if he wanted to.

Mookie81 · 21/02/2020 09:40

You've obviously not seen the sex doll episode...Grin.
As for Leon, there has been a huge amount of set up to their relationship and it's not meant to be 100% realistic.
I still love it.
And Susie has never liked Cheryl, have you forgotten 'carwash cunt'?!

EachandEveryone · 21/02/2020 13:09

Then I have really gone off Suzy if she couldnt be nice to that woman until she found put she was Jewish. Its not like her at all, remember Wanda?

Im surprised he hasnt trans peaked yet😀

We havent seen the sex doll, no.

I think the last few seasons have been patchy and this season hasn’t been classic so far but I actually really liked the last episode. I thought even the title was great and Jeff’s explosion at the end was worth the build up.

I thought the yo-yo thing was very funny and very ‘Larry’. Susie doesn’t hate non-Jewish people, I didn’t read it as that’s why she didn’t like Larry’s date.

I think Curb has always had repetitive storylines ie the same situations because it is all about the setup of how Larry gets himself in and out of the situations.

EachandEveryone · 21/02/2020 14:15

She only liked her when she found out her name etc it was the only way I could read it. Unless she was worried she might know some one who knows someone. That would make more sense.

My favourite was the weeping Jesus and also The Doll.

I'm watching and think it's as hilarious as ever.

I saw the blow up doll one. It was funnier but still felt repetitive.

You're a tough crowd Each Grin.

EachandEveryone · 28/02/2020 11:05

I know I suppose its because Ive seen some reruns quite recently. Going on about the toilet just made me yawn. Maybe my sense of humour is changing.

Liking Vince Vaughan though. Poor Marty that will be a good episode I imagine.

Honestly you cant tell me that the same old stories arent being dredge up. Racist dog?

OP posts:
EachandEveryone · 26/03/2020 21:26

So has anyone watched the whole season? I really was expecting Marti to get a mention at the end. I thought it was a mixed season. A few outstanding moments but lots of repetition and lots of stories that never really got an end like the Johnsons party 😃
