So who else waited up till midnight for it not to come on till 5am?

Luckily for me I only work term time, and children have flown the nest, so it was tea, toast and The Frasers at 6am.

Loved 501, many great moments, many happy, so many tearjearking.

Best bits? Jamie seeing Bree in her wedding finery. Roger singing to her. Baby Jemmy patting his mothers back.

Tear jerkers? Flashback to Claire and Jamie's wedding. Murtagh rejecting Jocasta. Jamie and Murtagh.

And Marsali. Brilliant.

Watched yesterday. Really enjoyed it. I do find Bree and Roger dull so I was pleasantly surprised by this episode. I really liked Roger catching Jamie unawares by nailing the oath. The part where Jamie sets the cross on fire seems to be drawing criticism with it's KKK reference. Being British, I didn't get that and in retrospect, it's a bit surprising that Bree or Claire didn't say anything (as modern Americans).

I love Murtagh and Jocasta, apart and together. They are a pair of wiley old foxes. The opening and closing scenes with Jamie and Murtagh were my favourite bit.

I hadnt seen the criticism. But unfortunately that is where the KKK got the cross burning from. The decision to use a celtic cross was a good one I feel.
Have you read the books? I think Roger was portrayed better in them.
I also like the Fergus Frasers being portrayed more. Again in the books Fergus wasnt called bt Jamie and felt that was wrong.

Looking forward to how the rest if the season goes.
The Fiery Cross was my favourite book after Outlander.

I have read the books, but am only half way through the Fiery Cross. I prefer book Roger. You can see his thought process better. Can't wait for next week

I have read the books, the gathering went on for a long time and I am glad they cut it short. The bits in the gathering I liked in the book version that were not shown were Philip Wylie kissing Claire and Jamie winning Philip's prize horse as revenge, also I think a slave was poisoned. However the gathering in the book was at River Run and not at Frasers Ridge hence why they couldn't have filmed the slave scene.
I am glad they included the cram it up your hole conversation.

Disappointingly soppy.

It was ok but overall nothing lives up to season 1 for me. I think Sam heughans acting seems to have deteriorated too. He was soooooo good in seasons 1-3 but in 4 and so far in 5 I just don't believe him as much

I was disappointed by episode one. It was all too sugary sweet for me. I will stick with it as I have watched all the others, but I think it has all been downhill since they left Scotland.
