I think I would have preferred Iain not talking and just some mashup best clips of her with a bit of Silence at the end.

But that's grief isn't? People do it differently, they have to do it their way. We can't dictate to Iain how he handles his grief.

Watching a bit behind as DS is being a diva...

I wasn’t particularly moved by the tribute either, but I guess it’s hard to strike the right balance between paying tribute to someone who has died and not plunging the viewers into depression right at the start of the show. Some sort of montage might have been better.

Nutella couldn’t be less into new guy.

Agree, Laura’s tribute was amazing and had me in floods. Probably partly because you could see her and the emotion on her face. His was pre-recorded and no face so while emotional, Laura’s was better.
