Please can someone link me to the current Love Island thread? I can't find it anywhere! Confused

There will need to be a few quick fire dumpings. How many couples are normally in the final?

SpanishFly · 16/02/2020 10:52

Ifeel1000yearsold but it's more to do with Iain doing his daft jokey voiceover etc - not sure how he could do that now.
Also social media is frothing that the whole thing should now be shelved, so ITV might be considering it based on (some) public opinion.

Bluntness100 · 16/02/2020 11:13

I also don't see the link between the tragic events and the program itself. I don't think anyone is saying it's the fault of the program, there are lots of accusations going round but this doesn't seem to be one of them, that it was directly due to the program, or that even Caroline would have wished it cancelled, so I don't understand the calls for it to be shelved.

It does not seem logical. Any shelving of the program would be like accepting responsibility. Clearly the producers need to be respectful and put out a statement, which I'm sure they will, but shelving the program just seems an odd suggestion which serves little purpose. As said I'm not sure she'd have wanted that, I doubt any one knows that..

Rollergirl11 · 16/02/2020 11:17

No I don’t think anyone is saying there’s a direct link either, more just to stop out of respect? I think ITV will feel immense pressure to shelve it but I don’t know where they stand with regards to the contestants contracts, the prize money, etc?

I guess we’ll know tonight!

MynameisJune · 16/02/2020 12:03

Why out of respect though? She hosted xtra factor, she was on strictly (which seems to be when a lot of her struggles started from what she has said online) should they all be cancelled? And then what about music? Should that be cancelled in respect for George Michael and other artists that have taken their own lives? Where is the line? When do you stop?

Bluntness100 · 16/02/2020 12:38

I'm afraid I also don't understand the concept of the show to be cancelled out of respect. I assume the folks who think that, think every show she presented should also be cancelled? And the same for any other celeb who has sadly committed suicide?

And the same for businesses? They should be shut down out of respect if an employee commits suicide? Wher does this end?

MynameisJune · 16/02/2020 12:42

I listened to Laura Whitmore this morning on her radio show, she said the show wasn’t the problem, that section of her show is worth a listen even if it is hard to listen to.

Oysterbabe · 16/02/2020 12:53

Yeah I just listened to that.
I hope LI continues, I don't see it as being the problem and I'm not sure that stopping it would be showing respect. I would feel bad for the existing islanders, who have invested a huge amount of their time in this, if they just immediately pulled it.

TitsInAbsentia · 16/02/2020 12:54

Assuming it's back on tonight (it's showing on the planner whereas unseen wasn't last night) then I think we should start a new thread with a strict no talk of the poor woman, and we report anyone who tries to talk about it.

MynameisJune · 16/02/2020 12:58

MNHQ said we can have a new thread as long as it’s about the show and it’s future.

I’d feel sorry for the crew more than the contestants if the show was cancelled. All those people out of jobs.

Rollergirl11 · 16/02/2020 12:58

I don’t see an issue with this current series finishing. Obviously it would be different if she was the current presenter! And I do think it’s hypocritical that the pressure to shelve LI is coming from social media and yet it is very likely that social media has had a big part to play in this tragedy.

I can’t actually imagine what tone the program will take if it goes ahead tonight.

Rollergirl11 · 16/02/2020 13:02

I’m assuming they will have told the contestants? It will be very strange for them if they have to act as if everything is normal!

Banana you get a grip 🙄
Nobody said they wouldnt survive. People questioned why threads were pulled about a show. Stop trying to get angry about something that isnt even there

QueenOfOversharing · 16/02/2020 13:23

@BananaChocolateLump why do you even bother reading threads, posting one goady reply then fucking off?

Get a. Grip 🙄

MynameisJune · 16/02/2020 13:26

Banana get a life, seriously. Go find something productive to do because if you all can do is find random threads on the net and troll them then you’re the one that needs a grip.

So much for in a world where you can be anything, be kind hey.

Nirvana1979 · 16/02/2020 13:26

Laura Whitmores piece on the radio was heartbreaking. She sounds in bits, understandably. It will be very hard for her i imagine to present this week.

Sagradafamiliar · 16/02/2020 13:26

Very odd.

This late in the day I'm expecting the focus to be on the existing couples and which one will win. I'm guessing they'll be no more bombshells.
They'll be more pressure for more bf-gf 'proposals' to seem legit, having said that I think Finn and Paige or Sîannise and Luke T are genuine and one couple will be the winners. Finn is absolutely besotted but I think my faves are Sîannise and Luke.
Really can't be doing with Natalia trying to make being with Jamie a thing. Next to go hopefully.

Zampa · 16/02/2020 13:27

Don't feed the trolls, like Banana, on this thread. Starve them of oxygen and they'll go away.

Sagradafamiliar · 16/02/2020 13:27

There'll*

itswinetime · 16/02/2020 13:34

The threads keep getting deleted because MNHQ want all discussion about Caroline on the main threads about her.

Discussion about love island is fine I think. These are the last 2 deletion messages for anyone that missed the threads

BananaChocolateLump · 16/02/2020 15:19

Excuse me but how the actual fuck am I a troll? Grow the hell up.

TitsInAbsentia · 16/02/2020 15:43

Because you haven't been near a LI thread this year until today maybe?

Kirksutherland · 16/02/2020 15:45

Ignore the troll.

I don't see how the show can go on though, the last week is usually very much focusing on the final couples, cringey dates/ speeches. Huge celebrating the winners. I think it would be uncomfortable viewing. And how would the contestants feel having to carry on as normal. Not to mention how Laura Whitmore would manage presenting/ and Ian Stirling voiceover. They seem to be devastated. I really think it would be no loss to cut it short now.

SeansNiece · 16/02/2020 15:47

Well surely we can start a new thread then with a title that says for Love Island current series chat only?

Surely they aren't going to delete every thread about programs she used to be on? Never seen anything as silly in my life.
