Anyone watching?

I clicked on it out of curiosity, and at first thought - Nah!, but was busy faffing so left it on while I was doing what I was doing - and the next I knew I was hooked! Binge-watched over two days (I am ashamed and the house is wrecked . . . totally worth it!)

Really enjoyed it, and the design process was fascinating - and I will say that the winning designer totally deserved the prize.

I would love, though, to know who decides the accessories, hair etc that the models wear - is that totally up to the designer as well?

I hope there's another series.

I've watched the first two and quite like it, although all the 'joking' between Tan and Alexa seems a bit forced.
I don't understand how some of the pairs have already known each other for ages while some have been thrown together for the show; how is that a fair competition? Some of those who don't know each other are clearly struggling with it. Also, isn't it just one individual who wins? So what happens to their partner?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/02/2020 10:51

They get to a point in the competition when they are down to 4 pairs - then they split them up and they compete as individuals.

One of the things that surprised me was how little jealousy there seemed to be, and how will ing they appear to be to help one another out. It could be for the benefit of the cameras, but it didn't come across like that.

There was only one point where there seemed to have been a little bad grace, and TBH I thought it was justified.

Agree the presenters are a couple of twats, though (I know you didn't phrase it like that - I read between the lines Grin)

I see, thanks Schadenfreude.

I really didn't mean they're a couple of twats Grin I rather like Tan, and I don't have anything against Alexa. I just think the 'funny' bits where they have a fake argument, and the cringy bit at the end when they sit on the sofa and chuck lines back and forward about how you must watch the next one, seem forced and not very funny.

I love this show, even my DH is hooked. I wish they would reshape Project Runway.

MummyOfBoyAndGirl · 10/02/2020 15:43

Really enjoyed it! I hope they do another season. All the designers were fab however when it got to the final 4 I wanted them all to win

Chickenitalia · 10/02/2020 19:50

I binged this in a few days... loved it, a more glamorous version of sewing bee! I am in awe of the talent and creativity, just how do they manage to create such amazing finished garments in a matter of days?! And the entire collections at the end, amazing. I would love to know more about the actual making of the show, how much could they plan in advance and how much was as spontaneous as it looked etc.
Tan I warmed to, Alexa drove me mad. Something about their relationship seemed very awkward. But there are more annoying people on tv.

My main complaint was them always criticising certain contestants for being ‘costumey’, and then praising others who looked to me to be just the same! The final show, which I won’t spoil, seemed to illustrate exactly that point. Did they want a far out design concept or a practical ready to go look? The final 2 people were about as far removed from each other as it was possible to be.

If I’d have been on there, I’d have been as hacked off as Carli was too. I loved her honesty and think she was completely in the right. If you’ve seen it, you’ll know what I mean.

Loved the whole show really, hopefully there will be more!

I had to smile at the comment "That fabric cost $650 a metre and he took a f*ing hammer to it!"

Loved it! Found it quite by accident and binged over a couple of days. IMO it is superior to the new version of Project Runway.

FLOrenze · 11/02/2020 08:02

I cheered out loud when the winner was announced. I thought all the contestants were lovely and Daniel was such a Gentleman and so kind.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 11/02/2020 09:20

The only contestant I didn't like was half of one of the early pairs out (2nd week, I think). There was a bearded man, and a woman with sort of corkscrew curls. The judges made a comment about how they could have improved their garment and she said (paraphrasing, obviously) "That's what I wanted to do but he wouldn't let me" effectively throwing him to the wolves and putting all the blame on him. At the end when they were out, for all he wished her well, the body language was Hmm, and she started crying and whinging on about her kids and she was only doing all tis for them or some such bollox.

I wasn't impressed with her at all, and felt quite sorry for him for getting landed with her. A team is a team - both are equally responsible for any decisions - if you feel strongly enough about something you argue you POV, and if it goes against you, and you still lose the round - then tough. That's life. You don't blame the other person.

It was interesting how the dynamics of the pairs changed through the competition, those who started as doormats standing up for themselves. I do think they could have been fairer with the pairings, all random or changed each week or something.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 11/02/2020 16:48

Yes - I thought that jay - see how they worked with different partners.

I've just watched the finale and was in tears I was so happy for the winner!

ittooshallpass · 19/02/2020 23:48

I've been watching this too! Haven't got to the end yet, so thank you for not spoiling it.

I think it's strange that some pairs know each other and some don't. Really doesn't seem fair.

Also thought lingerie week models were odd! Some larger ladies, which is fine... but paired up with either buff or skinny males? And the cat walk was gone? They just walked in between chairs.

Alexa is ok but cringey with guest judges. Hypes their intro up (I didn't know who any of them are Blush) and then ignores their questions or comments about what she was wearing Confused

Will definitely keep watching though! And can't wait to see who wins.

HollowTalk · 19/02/2020 23:50

They were told in lingerie week that the models would be larger women.

I got the impression that they could apply in pairs. A couple didn't and they were just thrown together and it didn't work at all.

MarshaBradyo · 21/02/2020 12:16

I loved it and cheered and cried a bit for the winner.
I nearly clicked off too on the first episode then quickly got into it.

So glad when the street woman went out.

I would buy the winner’s design definitely (well, in the sale maybe), but NaP haven’t got all the gorgeous print ones up.

Pipandmum · 21/02/2020 12:26

The bit about some knowing each other for years and others not is valid as they were being eliminated in pairs. That certainly did not seem fair.
Also these are all established designers (albeit not well known outside the industry) looking for the next level - project runway are all relatively new or at least not already designing for the likes of Beyonce. Much less bitchiness on this show, though I thought the 'store' was very limited.
The designers pick the accessories and brief the make up people and hair stylists- they showed that in one or two episodes, and they were occasionally criticed on their choices.
I quite liked the presenters- after seeing Alexa's photos for years was nice to get an idea of her personality!
