Come Dine With Me

Just for some lighthearted fun on this miserable & rainy day, I would like to know what everyone would cook if they were to go on Come Dine With Me? 🥘

I always wonder what I would cook but I can never make my mind up 😂

Anyone else love CDWM? I think it's one of the best shows on TV 😀

There was a poster on here (years ago) who was a contestant; she cooked crickets!!

74NewStreet · 03/02/2020 18:53

She didn’t win...

Justme10 · 03/02/2020 19:03

I don't know exactly what I would cook but Asian food always goes down quite well, full of flavour and nobody could say it's boring. --
And if it wasn't going well I would get everyone drunk--Grin

I love CDWM!

I'm not sure what I would cook, but I would definitely stay away from things like seafood and spicy food. I have little patience for these people that go on a cooking show and then say they don't eat X Y or Z, but I am very competitive and would be playing to win so I would definitely cook something that appeals to the masses.

"I don't like chocolate/mushrooms/ lamb" etc drives me mad.Who are these people?! Hmm

Stellaris22 · 04/02/2020 07:44

I'd stay away from anything repetitive. Stuffed mushrooms/peppers and arancini are usually done a lot, and I wouldn't cook anything I can't make from scratch myself as that's always picked up on too.

Hayb24 · 04/02/2020 08:45

I can't imagine the points being scored too high after having crickets for dinner😂

I find it quite common for people to go on the show and do 'steak and chips' or something with steak but find they never usually win either.

One of the funniest episodes I watched was filmed in Wales and one of the contestants just got everything out of a packet, nothing made homemade and then cooked her steaks for the main and bunged some cheese on and shoved them in the microwave😂 she didn't win but was entertaining to watch 😄

I think I would be too competitive and go overboard trying to please everyone to win the most points 😂🙈

Spiced butternut squash soup or stuffed mushrooms for a starter.
Spanish spicy chicken thighs or chicken and mushroom risotto for main.
Bailey’s cheesecake for pudding 🥴

norealshepherds · 04/02/2020 09:04

I’d have no idea, but I’d binge watch it and tactically find out what went down the best. I’m in it to win it!

Whilst we’re on the topic, have you seen the video of the man who was a very sore loser. It’s hilarious

WhatHaveIFound · 04/02/2020 09:18

I'd cook an Indian meal. Something like...

Tikka prawns or fish with puri/puffed rice salad
Cardamom lamb with a fruity biryani
Mango syllabub

Looking forward to watching the celebrities this week as last night's contestant didn't cook from scratch.

FredaFrogspawn · 04/02/2020 09:20

Remember the pigs trotters which still had hair on them?

And the peppers stuffed with baked beans?

Some very funny episodes!

roarfeckingroar · 04/02/2020 09:26

It's tricky because so many people are so fussy. "I don't like spicy food, fish, cheese, anything with bones in..." get off a cooking show!

Although mushrooms are of course disgusting.

Justme10 · 04/02/2020 10:12

I remember one, I think she had just moved house or something so she had a local restaurant make the food and it was delivered through the kitchen window to her Grin

Stellaris22 · 04/02/2020 12:55

I remember that episode and bringing it in through the window.

Talking of sore losers, I remember one episode where a woman was bragging about scoring low on purpose, kept scoring 1 or 2. She was told to vote fairly or be kicked off.

Collision · 04/02/2020 16:27

I would cook

Gorgonzola soufflé with poached pears and caramelised walnuts

Pan fried herb crusted lamb fillet
Dauphinois potatoes
Green beans
Carrots
Gravy

Trio of desserts

Lemon tart
Tiramisu
Creme Brûlée

74NewStreet · 04/02/2020 16:31

That’s a winner, Collision

Mammyloveswine · 04/02/2020 16:47

Oooh @colliosion that sounds lovely!

The Gorgonzola would be a divisive item though I fear!

I would do sautéed king prawns with chorizo for starter served on a bed of rocket with garlic ciabatta.

My main would be probs be chicken stuffed with mozzarella, pesto and tomato wrapped in Parma ham served with roasted baby potatoes with a hint of salt and chilli, asparagus spears and baby sweet corn (or seasonal veg depending on the time of year!!)

For desert I'd keep it simple-chocolate fudge cake with ice cream!

For veggies I'd do sautéed Garlic mushrooms on lightly toasted ciabatta.

Main I would make a veggie chilli and use it to stuff peppers and add the same sides as my main. Or I would offer chilli to be served with rice.

Hayb24 · 04/02/2020 17:14

Ahhh I remember the window one😂

The man who was a sore loser and asked everyone to get out his house is always hilarious! I don't think I could ever get bored of CDWM

After reading some of these replies I am sooo hungry now 😜😍

happilybemused · 06/02/2020 13:14
