It's on now on channel 5 so far so good. Part dramatisation part commentary.

Ooh!

Thanks for the tip-off

I'm watching "The Stranger" ATM, but will certainly get round to Wallis. I think she was a badly misunderstood woman in many ways, and the friction between her and the Queen Mother is engrossing.

I think it's a sad story. The life of socialising and parties looks pretty hollow.
I don't understand why former royals don't buy an estate and run it - farm/ forestry/ buildings/ fishing/ environment / tourism - enough to keep anyone busy. And you can use your stately pile for impressing guests. Charles has done that a bit. You don't really need to make money as you will get some sort of allowance from the Queen.
I hope P Harry does this rather than try to remain in wiht the glitterati and backstabbing holywood types.
Prince Edward never looks happy in the pics. And ages rapidly. Sad.

I think George V affected his children in so many ways I think Edward VIII may have been looking for a mother figure and the forthright Wallis fitted the bill.
I feel I know her story a lot more than and feel some sympathy. I watched the Queen's Lost family straight after and it was very interesting about Mary's children.

Off topic though @SchadenfreudePersonified I enjoyed The Stranger I guessed certain things but felt it ran out of steam a little at the end. I enjoyed it overall.
