I did not know most ladies shave all their pubic hair off!! Do they really??

I started a thread in FWR, but no response. I'm shocked too. Especially when that model said she'd had violent rape threats for being a bit hairy in photos Shock

ThatThereWoman · 27/01/2020 22:22

All the young girls that feel "disgusting" if they have pubes.

I don't think its a big deal to have pubes, but they're all behaving as though they're being immensely brave!

thenightsky · 27/01/2020 22:24

I have done a shave a couple of times in my 60 year life and each time I've felt far stickier and unclean when hairless.

Mincepies76 · 27/01/2020 22:27

It must be itchy when it grows back. I'm actually amazed anyone gives that much thought to pubes!

I was kind of having thoughts along the same wavelength but thought maybe no one else thinks like me!

Nomorelaundry · 27/01/2020 23:38

I shave it all (unless I'm being a bit lazy) never itchy. I much prefer it.

Mincepies76 · 27/01/2020 23:46

Definitely each to their own 😀

Apparently they do. I guess a lot of it is to do with porn culture. I think plenty of young men do as well. I couldn't be arsed personally.

Stellaris22 · 28/01/2020 07:45

Always thought I was in the minority for not shaving/waxing! Just never saw the point or could be bothered.

Purplewithred · 28/01/2020 07:51

I knew going bare was pretty much the done thing for the Young Folks but was taken aback at the negative language about ‘unclean’ and ‘disgusting’ and ‘shame’. Interesting that she managed to pinpoint the moment pubes disappeared - 2004? - and IMHO definitely porn-driven.

On the surface women have a lot more equality than they used to, but underneath it’s the same old same old controlling shit.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/01/2020 16:24

It must be itchy when it grows back

It bloody is!

I've been shaved twice (surgery on my lady parts) and

a) one's fanny looks like a badly plucked chicken - repulsive (IMO)

b) as it re-grows it itches like buggery - it's awful.

And on a "hygiene" note - pubic hair actually protects the area. And shaving/waxing is likely to cause ingrowing hair and sent=sitivites to products used.

Also - honestly! What's attractive about women with pudenda like that of a child? Male power and control - that's what it comes down to - it's an image of vulnerability that some men thrive on.

Nomorelaundry · 28/01/2020 16:58

I can honestly say mines never itchy when growing :/ usually why I keep forgetting.

Mincepies76 · 28/01/2020 17:01

I honestly thing my muffin top is more off putting than my pubes 😂

cocomelon23 · 28/01/2020 17:02

I wax all mine off. I have to say I do feel so much cleaner.

Reginabambina · 28/01/2020 17:03

What makes you think it ever went away? I’m mid twenties, the view that was prevalent amongst my peers when we were young enough to discuss these things was that women who went completely hairless were not exactly tasteful. If anything I’d say I feel more pressure to have pubic hair than to remove it.

Soubriquet · 28/01/2020 17:05

I don’t shave. Never have done

My dh prefers it that way luckily

I tend to only shave my underarms or legs if they are going to be on show. Otherwise I let it all grow

okiedokieme · 28/01/2020 17:08

Shaving is really itchy, waxing is better if you can stand the pain (far far worse than legs) I sometimes do, I just don't like the pain!

TwitcherOfCurtains · 28/01/2020 17:13

I tried waxing- ripped some skin off.

I tried hair remover cream- burned some skin off.

I tried shaving- cut my labia .

Never again. I'm now a full supporter of the bush .

doadeer · 28/01/2020 17:18

I didn't bother when I was pregnant but I usually wax. It feels lovely when you touch the area. DP is happy either way but I know how nice it feels waxed. I don't think it's disgusting or unclean to have hair whatsoever. I wouldnt shave as it grows back coarse and scratchy for me

purpleme12 · 28/01/2020 21:22

I agree that I knew the trend now was to have shaven but I was also surprised at the words used - unclean...

purpleme12 · 28/01/2020 21:27

But do people really think it's such a big deal as the programme makes out?

Mincepies76 · 28/01/2020 21:50

But do people really think it's such a big deal as the programme makes out?

That's what I wondered.
