It's so good. Wednesdays , BBC 2. An angel & a demon who are friends are looking for the antichrist to stop armageddon, as they rather like the world as it is thanks v much. Its very quirky, a female God does the Desperate Housewives style voice over. Martin Sheen is the angel. David Tennant is the fantastically sneery & sarky demon. Its done v well in the US I read somewhere too.

Yes I’m loving it. I’m watching on amazon prime. I’m still saving the last episode because I don’t want to finish it. They are both so cute in their roles

Pipandmum · 24/01/2020 06:23

I've seen it - it was out last year. Took a couple episodes of me asking myself was it actually really bad? And yes, it was.

MyuMe · 24/01/2020 06:26

I found it awful.

Unfunny and a real let down ...You're not my dad!

Really?! That was it

scissy · 24/01/2020 07:56

I enjoyed it. I'm not an avid Pratchet fan though. The response amongst my friends who are was like marmite!

gingerchaos · 24/01/2020 07:58

It's brilliant.

missnevermind · 24/01/2020 08:03

I loved the Ark scene about the unicorns.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2020 15:27

I've seen it three times on Prime, and am watching it again.

It's LOVELY!

I really like the Angel Gabriel ("Don't talk to me about the ineffable plan - I'm the Archangel fucking Gabriel!") and the (not very subtle) homoerotic under/overtones between Aziraphale and Crowley; also the snide angels.

Not so keen on most of the demons - too cartoon-y for my liking - but thoroughly enjoyed the series.

slipperywhensparticus · 26/01/2020 15:28

I loved it

Saucery · 26/01/2020 15:36

We’ve just watched it again as it being on BBC reminded us.
I love the way Hastur is so mean, yet so mard Grin. Beelzebub and the demons are like some tedious middle management/union ranks, the Angels just as petty as any human.
Spotted some things I missed the first time, including a couple of clues to the ending regarding Crowley and Aziraphael.
Little things like Johnny Vegas as the spirit of a downtrodden husband at a seance just make it for me and of course Miranda Richardson is a sheer delight.

Sgtmajormummy · 26/01/2020 15:49

DD (13) loved it. She’d read the book and thought the series on Amazon was even better.
She got quite fixated, and so did other people, judging from The mashup videos on YouTube playing up the “gay” romance between the two. But angels have no sex (!) so it’s really just the natural push-pull of good and evil.

I watched it with her over about 3 weeks and really enjoyed it.
David Tennant swaggers like Jagger and a pudgy platinum blond Martin Lewis is adorable. It had an understated sense of humour and appreciation of the simple things in life.

I also loved the theme song and Queen moments.
Did you know that any CD in Crowley’s car turns into a Queen CD within a month?! Book reference from DD.

a pudgy platinum blond Martin Lewis is adorable

Isn't he just!

BTW - by Martin Lewis you do mean Michael Sheen, don't you?

Legomanships · 26/01/2020 20:35

I think tennant and sheen are great in this, but I basically ended up fast forwarding to their parts because the rest of it was so dull 😬 I think the leading men were too good for the material in the end

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2020 21:38

Actually - I agree Legomanships. When I think about it, I loved it, but I really just enjoyed the Crowley-Aziraphale dynamic (and the Archangel Fucking Gabriel, obviously . . . . )

ShowOfHands · 26/01/2020 21:43

I loved the book and watched the series last year and really liked it.

Sgtmajormummy · 26/01/2020 21:44

Yes, sorry! Blush

SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/01/2020 09:34

Don't apologise - it took me a while to work out what wasn't quite right with it, too.

(Knew there was something, but what .. . . .?

I'm enjoying it so far watching it on BBC, read the book but felt as tho i were reading to different stories at times so surprised I'm enjoying as much as I am

Deathraystare · 30/01/2020 16:27

It has made my Wednesday!

My Brother did not realise it was that Good Omens - just thought it sounded similar (even though there were adverts about it!) Luckily he can watch it later!

BarkandCheese · 30/01/2020 16:32

I watched it on Amazon last year, having read the book years ago. I enjoyed it, but mostly for Tennant and Sheen’s performances. I’d love to see their backstory fully fleshed out into its own series.

newnamethanks · 11/07/2023 18:33

Series- 2 on Prime from 21st July. Hurrah, please don't let us and Sir TP down, Gaiman, Tennant and Sheen, we need you to raise our spirits, no pun intended.
