I am not going to get chance to watch much more of this so this was a bit of a quick one...

I wore lenses from the age of 14 to my early 30s, then got a really bad infection. I used to wear them all day, from the early hours til I went to bed, never had glasses. The infection scared me, and apart from wearing lenses for vanity reasons on my wedding dayGrin I have worn glasses ever since.

I used to have spare lenses for things like haircuts, as I can't see what they are doing to me. But I don't have that many hair cuts!

Oh heck.

Come on Milos.

Aim it at his eye

OP posts:
Raahh · 28/01/2020 11:39
Hmm

I do not like Djokovic. And now he's doing the bloody arm thing.

OP posts:
Raahh · 28/01/2020 11:39

Milos did try hard in the 3rd set though. Pity he couldn't push it in the first 2 sets.

I'm waiting for my eye surgery and hopefully after that I can get back to contacts but then I'll still need reading glasses. Can't win! I will have to try those varifocal lenses but they're way more expensive.

BGD2012 · 28/01/2020 11:41

He had problems in the French semis last year because wind was blowing dust into his eyes. He may not be as popular as Rafa and Fed but he is ridiculously good.

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2020 11:42

Oh no doubt he's good BGD. Pity he's a pain in the arse.

PrivateSpidey · 28/01/2020 11:47

Yes he's amazing imho - I'm known for my Novak fangirl moments Grin

But this kind of stuff (going off court Hmm), the boob celebration etc - it's annoying.

kazzaD66 · 28/01/2020 12:16

Bugger!
May have to fast forward through the BBC highlights today. Don't fancy watching either Rog or Cock winning Hmm

I wore contacts for years and, when they play up, they play up! It could be excruciating at times if a lense got scratched or an eyelash attached itself! Then I couldn't wait to get the damn things out, so can sympathise with Cock can't believe I've just written that!
Had my eyes lasered 5 years ago, although just started wearing glasses for dusk /night driving, to sharpen things up a bit.

BGD2012 · 28/01/2020 12:16

I don't like the celebration either, it is cringe. I do quite like him though and I hope he beats Fed. (I wouldn't have said that a few years back). Who out of the youngsters is left? Is Stan still in?

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2020 12:19

Nadal/Thiem
Wawrinka/Zverev
Sad I like them all

BGD2012 · 28/01/2020 12:47

Nadal has had quite a tough draw.

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2020 13:06

He usually does!

PrivateSpidey · 28/01/2020 13:15

Yes I like them all from that bit of the draw as well. I hope Stanimal is on form tomorrow.

I've hardly seen anything of Sascha these two weeks but his results are brilliant, in fact I think he's the only player who hasn't lost a set on the men's side. It's hard to pick a winner there isn't it??

But then again, it is in the Rafa/Thiem match as well.

BGD I agree Djok will beat Fed, Fed is already living v dangerously. It's a funny old game etc but I can't see Rog getting past him.

Contact lens problems sound awful kazza!

Raahh · 28/01/2020 13:26

Rafa has had a rough draw- but I wonder if that might help him a bit? Last year he really sailed through (had some tough opponents, but got through to the final in straight sets) and then fell apart against Djok. The tougher tests might help him. I don't want a repeat of last year's final really I don't want a Rafa/Fed final either.

I really like Thiem/Stan and Sascha but this might be Rafa's last chance.

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2020 13:27

I'm going to be so conflicted in the Sascha/Stan match. Aargh!

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2020 14:36

"American legend McEnroe called Court a “crazy aunt”"
I thought that said something else for a second!

Fizzywinegum · 28/01/2020 15:59

Grin Jane - I quite like the sound of Martina and Mac’s protest about Margaret Court.

magimedi · 28/01/2020 17:04

Does anyone know who the woman was who did the post match interview with Ash Barty after her win over Petra?? BBC showed only a moment of it & it's annoying me that I can't work out who it was!

Raahh · 28/01/2020 17:18

magiI didn't see it, but from what I've read, I think it was her friend Casey Dellacqua?

OP posts:
Raahh · 28/01/2020 17:22

Well, they are more than friends, they were doubles partners.

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 28/01/2020 17:33

It was Casey Dellacqua. Jim Courier started the interview then called Casey on court to ask some more questions Confused Grin

magimedi · 28/01/2020 17:35

Thank you, Raahh & Private It was bugging me.

I felt sorry for Petra but she just lost her way in the second set.

Ash Barty to win the AO!

On the men's side - I'm in the ABD (Anyone But Djock) camp!

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2020 17:45

I think Stan and Sascha are on during the night? Still confused! It will save me the angst if so but I'd like to have seen at least one of their matches.

Fizzywinegum · 28/01/2020 17:51

I’m also in the ABD camp for the men’s although I think it’s looking fairly inevitable. I can’t see Roger putting a stop to him in the semis - he’s looking scarily invincible (again)

I would love Rafa to win the whole thing but don’t want a repeat of last year’s final (the result and the way that Djok just seemed to stop him from being able to play). My second favourite to win would be Stanimal although Sascha winning would also be good (I’m hedging my bets a bit - I might as well include Thiem in there as well!)
