Oh I've found you!, don't know anyone else who has watched it.
I honestly love this show I binge watched up to episode 8 last night.
The children are sooooo awful and yet I see how she tries so hard to please them.
I keep meaning to find out more about her
There does seem to be quite a bit of drink driving?
And I think she's more eccentric in series 3 replicating the mother I guess

EachandEveryone · 09/01/2020 21:00

It’s based on her life. She has three girls, her mum is English and she is indeed a bit part actor. The children are precocious but there’s a bond there. I know no one that watches it!

This is sooooo good I binged watched season 3 yesterday. I almost didn't recognise Sharon Stone in episode 3, she looks really good.

Tana433 · 10/01/2020 09:37

No one else i know irl has watched this. I absolutely love it. I cant watch Sam without her reminding me of Helen from the Affair though. I dont think they are related in any way but they are very similar in looks and the way they talk

sleepyhead · 10/01/2020 09:41

I just found this the other night! I watched the episode from series 3 that was on and have now gone back and binged series 1 - love it.

Lotty32 · 10/01/2020 09:43

Which channel please? X

Tana433 · 10/01/2020 09:50

EachandEveryone · 10/01/2020 10:50

It’s very Californian. I’ve been in hospital so I can’t wait to binge watch when I get home

youngestisapsycho · 10/01/2020 12:34

EachandEveryone · 12/01/2020 18:57

Damn, i started a thread about shows that become disappointing after the fisr couple of seasons......

Wheres the theme tune?

EachandEveryone · 20/01/2020 21:39

Id love to know what people thought?

KaliforniaDreamz · 21/01/2020 15:26

I'm watching it - the kids are really spoiled and that's hard to stomach, but that aside it's great watching a female centered programme.
There's a scene where the men come back early from an evening out distrubing the women's evening in and Sam is livid. She never has to centre a man. As tough as her life is at times, that is indeed a gift!

Her mother played by Celia Imrie is fantastic.

Don't know where the theme tune went but the story goes that John Lennon assumed he could 'have' his mother so perhaps Adlon thougth fuck that for a theme tune.

EachandEveryone · 21/01/2020 15:37

Well there were two of them working on the first two seasons so it wouldve been a joint choice I expect.

Just for once I would love a child on tv to go to college and bloody graduate 😄 i think the only one that has is Alex from Moderm family.

The dc are really spoilt and obnoxious. Its like another world really. Ive enjoyed it but Im not sure its up there with the first two for me.

KaliforniaDreamz · 21/01/2020 19:53

Yes that's my point Louis CK turned out to be a prize knob so perhaps she felt less inclined towards that theme tune. just a theory!!!!

EachandEveryone · 21/01/2020 20:03

Yes thats true but I think she has stayed friends with him.

Have you watched it til the end? I wonder if it will be back it just seems to get tucked away over here.

I just watched series 1-3, I liked it but also didn't like it - hard to explain but it was very much about Sam's real life as a struggling actor etc. Cast were great (Celia Imran amazing as always) but it didn't seem real, more aimed at Hollywood struggling actor bureaucracy than lighthearted comedy, took the edge off for me. And I did google to see if Sam was gay IRL and was very surprised that she wasn't. The actress has obviously been overlooked, It's a shame the series is so on point.

EachandEveryone · 21/01/2020 20:36

I dont think so shes probably bigger than you think espevially in her own creative circle. The voiceovers are true she was in King of the Hill or one of those big ones for years and also a series I never watched Californication or something. She was also a child star. The series is about her. And shes not short of a bob 🙂

She was great in Californication. Yes it is def niche, but i enjoyed it. I think i've got 1 ep tp go.

EachandEveryone · 21/01/2020 22:01

Yes Im just not finding her as likeable this time. I do love abit of Mathew Broderick though. He is so not her type!

DickDewy · 21/01/2020 22:22

I just love it. Sadly I have already binged on all 3 seasons.

It's refreshing and funny and sad. Her 2 eldest daughters are just foul to her and yet she just comes back for more and loves them fiercely.

I find Pamela Adlon really attractive, even though she isn't Confused

EachandEveryone · 21/01/2020 22:32

Oh I think she is. I just love those glasses they really suit her.

I've never found anyone else who has heard of BT, I love it. Watched first 3 episodes of Series 3 last night. I love the subtle humour, the great one liners, gay BF, her house, art, the fact she isn't skinny, I find her really relatable.

KaliforniaDreamz · 22/01/2020 20:14

Her art is gorgeous. I do relate to her a lot too. Apart from the income.lol

DickDewy · 22/01/2020 21:00

I loved the episode where suddenly none of her clothes fit.

I also really loved the scene where they all to that dance to the Christine and the Queens song. No idea why, but it moved me.

She has liked 2 of my comments on Twitter and Instagram. She is therefore, my best friend.
