Hi folks - I am Amazon prime and Netflix.

I would love some binge watching that isn't blood and gore and murder.

Dealing with family illness already so just want something happy and escapist.... but almost everything seems to be about death.

Think Marvelous Mrs Mazel not Witcher's/ Marco Polo!

Thank you for all your suggestions!!!! Smile

Sex Education on Netflix most definitely

BraveGoldie · 05/01/2020 10:41

Thanks! I will try that! And I have watched them Crown' and have just discovered 'Catastrophe' which, contrary to the title is very sweet.

Any other suggestions?

Love, the letdown... I have loads in my viewing history, will have a look and come back to you later.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/01/2020 12:57

Atypical

brokenstone · 07/01/2020 12:58

Jane the Virgin

SutterCane · 07/01/2020 13:00

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 07/01/2020 13:01

Parks & Recreation!
The first season is a bit rubbish, but it's only about 6 episodes, and it's just glorious after that

Please Like Me is beautiful.

Two of my favorites and always pick me up. Both on Prime.

Agree with Sex Education too, it's hilarious. Season 2 out very soon as well

Mooserp · 08/01/2020 17:14

I'm interested in the recommendations too - I don't like watching doom and gloom tv at the moment.

I tried Jane the Virgin but I found the voiceover started getting annoying and I watched the first episode of Parks and Recreation but didn't like it - maybe I should give it another go.

I did enjoy The Letdown and Sex Education

My recommendations are -
Grace and Frankie
Crazy ex Girlfriend
The Good Place
Modern Family
Life in Pieces

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 08/01/2020 17:59

Do give Parks & Rec another go. The first few are really quite basic, but they get great. It's definitely a particular type of humour though.

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 08/01/2020 18:03

I read that as feel good sex bots. I need more sleep Hmm

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 08/01/2020 18:06

Parks and Rec is AMAZING

If you liked Maisel, then Gilmore Girls on Netflix, same writers

Virgin River on Netflix

Life In Pieces on Prime
Modern Love and Catastrophe on Prime

All the following films on Netflix :

Dumplin'
Kissing Booth
To All The Boys I've Loved Before
Set It Up

NamechangeoutedbyMIL · 08/01/2020 18:06

The good place!

Bluewavescrashing · 08/01/2020 18:07

Derry Girls

SmellMySmellbow · 08/01/2020 18:09

The Detectorists and Mum. Both BBC I think.

CalamityJune · 08/01/2020 18:13

Old fashioned but Gilmore Girls has been my cosy watch of choice lately. Virgin River was also quite good, although sad in places.

1WayOrAnother · 08/01/2020 18:14

Definitely the Detectorists, it's lovely.
If you want a feel good film I would recommend Fighting with my Family. It's based on the true story of a family of wrestlers. I loved it.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2020 18:48

Okay a wee selection - mostly lighthearted with a few others chucked in:

Offspring
Anne with an E
Master of None
Girlboss
You
Queer Eye
The Kominsky Method
Tiny House Nation
Workin Moms
Bonus family
Rita
Good Girls
Consumed
Transparent
Russian Doll
Grace and Frankie
Sisters
Everything sucks
Lovesick
Freshmeat
Gilmore girls
Love, Nina
Touch

that's mostly netflix - i'll need to have a look through my Amazon list at some point...

BraveGoldie · 09/01/2020 18:23

Oh this is brilliant to get all these recommendations -so many I haven't heard.

Thank you everyone! You have sorted out my viewing for the next year! 😀

Parenthood on Prime was really good but see you have to pay for it now :(

BraveGoldie · 10/01/2020 14:48

Trying 'Life in pieces'.... it is great - very funny!

And likeable people! I like watching stuff with people I actually like... Smile
