So, I'm another one of those indecisive spends more time flicking and deciding what to watch than watching people.. Grateful for suggestions!
I don't particularly have a favourite genre per se but I like series where I connect emotionally with the characters, their lives, their relationships and so it has to be well-scripted with believable characters.
One of my all-time favourite series was Breaking Bad and I was actually in mourning when I finished that
Older series I've felt similar about have been Buffy and Firefly. Also liked Ally McBeal in the day.
And more recently Line of Duty (but mainly series 2 and 3) and Fleabag (but to be honest, that was mainly series 2 and the Hot Priest - loved the chemistry.
)
I also enjoyed Criminal but obviously too short to get emotionally invested. Also liked True Detective.
I'm currently watching Outlander and although it has met my criteria in part, I just can't get as invested as I thought I would in the Claire/Jamie relationship. Am about halfway through series 4 now and I'm getting a bit bored again.
I have tried but couldn't really get into:
You - watched the first few episodes but didn't really find the main character very believable!
Mindhunter - found it a bit dry.
The Good Place - bit silly but to be honest, comedy is not particularly a favourite!
Grey's Anatomy - really wanted to like this as real-life medical stuff interests me and have heard good things about it, but found most of the characters a bit two-dimensional and storylines far-fetched.
Suits - Was alright to start with but got a bit meh.
