I'm probably going to rewatch the rematch from last year, if anyone else is bored enough to join in.

Totally agree with some other posters that Stu was the best chef on the day and has been consistently fabulous throughout the competition. The fact that he is white or male or has a child or is from a working class background is completely irrelevant. His food looked amazing and inventive (hated the bloody awful plate he served his first course on though 😬)

Although all three finalists were great, I’m delighted he won and will definitely look out for his new restaurant in Birmingham.

Ah this is a repeat 😕

ilovesooty · 20/12/2019 20:07

Yes it is a repeat but it was fun first time round so I'll watch again.

RomaineCalm · 20/12/2019 20:10

We're watching it although fairly sure we saw it last time.

Lots of "Ah, I remember him..."

Wolfcub · 20/12/2019 20:18

I remember we really liked Gary

GrouchyKiwi · 20/12/2019 20:20

My bloody computer decided to crash for the second time today.

I love seeing these people again (again). They were mostly lovely.

Too much offal

GrouchyKiwi · 20/12/2019 20:48

A few of them have left their meat basically raw.

Quick question. Generally in Masterchef, when the judges are giving the feedback, can the other chefs hear it? I always thought they could, but am not sure after yesterday's final..?

GrouchyKiwi · 20/12/2019 20:58

I think they can.

I always wonder how they manage keeping the food hot/cold while other dishes are judged. It would make more sense to stagger the timings, but the chefs are always shown standing together for judging, with clean work stations behind them. So it seems like they plate, then the camera takes the shots of food looking pretty, then what? The ice creams and sorbets either melt or they must put them back in to freeze. And when there are 8 dishes to go are the last ones tasted cold or kept in a hot plate? Someone explain I can't work it out!

longwayoff · 21/12/2019 07:48

I liked Masterchef better when it was about food rather than cooks. @LittleAndOften, I remember reading one of the presenters said they eat a LOT of cold food and that it's not as appealing as it looks on screen by the time they get to try it.

GrouchyKiwi · 21/12/2019 08:55

But they do lots of tasting while the chefs are cooking so they get a decent idea of how it should taste when hot (or cold, I guess).

OP posts:
LittleAndOften · 21/12/2019 09:32

@longwayoff that sounds grim. @grouchykiwi I guess so, but I also wonder how they can say things are perfectly cooked if they've been sitting out.

GrouchyKiwi · 21/12/2019 09:36

I suspect they get to taste some as soon as it's done (the chefs never do just one little piece of meat, for example) and then those thoughts are what they talk about when they do their On Air judging, as it were.

Agree, though, that eating those plates of food cold must be unpleasant.

And my thoughts about it come from interviews with contestants on the Australian version. It might be done differently in the UK. Grin

I was talking with DH last night about the original Masterchef with Lloyd Grossman. I seem to remember it was mostly women of a certain age cooking their best dinner party food Grin

PotterHead1985 · 23/12/2019 19:27

Ready for tonight's episode. About the only thing I am ready for Grin

Wolfcub · 23/12/2019 20:00
