Match of the Day fans: what's up with Alan Hansen?

He's looking a bit peaky these days - all sort of pale and drawn and droopy-eyed. Is he ill or something?

He had an accident with some hot candle wax. Apparantly it spashed up onto his face and burnt him around the mouth. DH told me but don't know where he got this from.

Gary Lineker explained breifly at the end of one of the programmes about the wax. Something along the lines of 'In case you're wondering what's happened to Alan, and the make-up isn't concealing it...'

He dresses up in a nightshirt and a little nightcap, and he plays 'Jack be nimble' on his nights off.

It's not as shocking as an orange in the mouth and a bin-bag over the head, granted.

Well, seriously, it could just be that his wife blew a candle out rather forcefully and he was on t'other side of it.
