Agree Private. He doesn't seem so focused anymore. I don't think anyone else could have saved match points and beat Fed like he did this year at Wimbeldon though. Especially with Feds crowd support.

Raahh · 22/12/2019 15:34

I have been to Ikea. For light bulbs. Seriously. Actually, it was not too bad, the queues for M and S and Sainsburys were far worse.

I missed the chance to fan girl over Rafa. Grin though I saw a lovely picture of him after his win.

I am satisfying my Christmas film itch with 'Miracle on 34th Street' ( Natalie Wood version) and indulging mygirl crush on Maureen o' Hara.

( I watched 'it's a Wonderful life' last night, that made me feel a bit more festive).

And 'Our Friends in the North' is one of my favourite ever series. When I first met dh,he bought it for me on dvd because he had never seen it. I'm amazed it was never repeated ( given the times some things are!).

I only like Daniel Craig in that. I've only ever watched one Bond film- Skyfall, under protest.

I love the theme songs tthough. Apart from Skyfall Grin and that dreadful Sam Smith one.

JaneJeffer · 22/12/2019 16:46

I love the cheesey old Roger Moore James Bond films.

Been shopping with DS1 to get something for his girlfriend. It wasn't too crowded.

Fizzywinegum · 22/12/2019 17:08

I’ve got our Friends in the North on DVD Raahh - I don’t know why the bbc never repeated it - I’m also a bit of a girl fan of Christopher Eccleston.

I would also like to rewatch The Night Manager - I think it’s on Amazon Prime now though (mainly to see where Rafa got married - yes he did get married this year in case anybody didn’t know Xmas Grin)

Hope everyone’s Christmas plans are going well - I’m hoping to not have to go into a shop again for a while now.

I watched The Snowman earlier Xmas Smile

JaneJeffer · 22/12/2019 17:14

The BBC rarely repeat things which is very strange. There's loads of stuff I'd like to watch again.

Raahh · 22/12/2019 17:56

It's very strange- you can get endless repeats of Q.I, but decent drama. Well, i suppose they rely on the money from people buying boxsets. I had OFITN, but on video before dh got the dvd. Now both are redundant in our house.

Elf is now on the tv. The dog is looking at me as if I am deranged. I've seen it twice alreadythis year.

I need a hobby. Unless watching Christmas films counts as a hobby?Xmas Grin

JaneJeffer · 22/12/2019 18:02

I love this man Xmas Grin

Xmas Grin
PrivateSpidey · 22/12/2019 18:54

Yes that's probably why, about the box sets - or a rights thing. I've just been discussing this very issue on an Agatha Christie thread Grin

And yes why are quiz shows always repeated - apart from Eggheads of course, as that's always cancelled to make way for boring old live world-class tennis!

Good work with the Christmas prep everyone. I think I am pretty much done apart from cooking... Ambitiously planned loads of stuff which I'm now ditching much of...

I had a bit of a wobble in Aldi shopping the other day and as I am not the meat eater, rang dh for advice on which beef joint to get. It's only now he has realised I bought one that is MASSIVE ( 2 adults and 3dc will be eating it, along with turkey AND gammon. I'm having troutXmas Grin). We will still be cooking the beef on boxing day.

We always send bil home with half the food, it's kind of a tradition. This year he is getting half a flipping cow. I did warn dh he should have bought it himself!

Fizzywinegum · 22/12/2019 20:20

I’m also slightly worried about the Christmas meat Raahh - DH has ordered beef and a turkey crown from the butcher but is being very vague about size and cost.

We can pick it up tomorrow so will find out if it fits in the oven and if we are likely to be bankrupted Xmas Hmm

Raahh · 22/12/2019 20:25

One of the first years dh and I did our own Christmas, we ordered a turkey crown from ron the local farm shop. Granted, they still gave you the legs and wings (in a bag) but it wasn't huge and cost more than I have spent on ALL the meat, 15 years on. Grin

We haven't been since, even though they sponsor dh's football team!

Fizzywinegum · 22/12/2019 20:30

Yes that’s what I’m worried about Raahh!

JaneJeffer · 22/12/2019 20:30
Grin

The year I was expecting DS2 I was in tears cooking the turkey!

Raahh · 22/12/2019 20:43

I might just start drinking now

too late for that

PrivateSpidey · 22/12/2019 20:44

Ah yes, the most wonderful time of the year eh?!?

I'm just not feeling it this year. Some years I feel more festive than others, and this year I just haven't got it.

Although I haven't watched It's A Wonderful Life yet so that should set me straight.

I may have also watched Elf more than once Xmas Grin

JaneJeffer · 22/12/2019 20:49

I haven't watched anything festive except the darts Grin

Raahh · 22/12/2019 21:07

I'm watching Love Actually.

Xmas Grin

( the alternative was Quantum of Solace!

Raahh · 22/12/2019 21:08

Billie Jean has been tweeting about the woman who has been winning in the darts.

She seemed very excited.

JaneJeffer · 22/12/2019 21:11

Yes it's great. Andy is delighted as well!

Raahh · 22/12/2019 21:13
Xmas Grin

I like darts, but I rarely get chance to watch it these days. Like snooker. Growing up, I seemed to watch a lot of snooker.

JaneJeffer · 22/12/2019 21:20

I never took to snooker. Like golf I find it too slow. I'll watch any sport besides. DH flicked over to the football chat for a minute and Ashley Cole is on. He never seems to age!

Fizzywinegum · 22/12/2019 21:28

Raahh I can’t believe you’re watching Love Actually! Xmas Shock Quantum of Solace is rubbish (even with Daniel Craig in it)

I’m not a darts or snooker fan - if you can drink beer while playing it’s not a sport!
